The only thing I'd disagree with is the VIN etching on the glass. I've read that with a VIN an Acura employee of some sort could produce a key. Whether this hold water or not, well, I'd rather not find out the hard way.
Although it's illegal, I've got a business card over my VIN.

Correct. A shady Acura tech could get a key by having your VIN. Am I right in thinking that the dash is the only place it's exposed?

In CA, it's not illegal. As a matter of fact, LA Sheriffs recommend it and have memo's posted about it in the customer lounge of some dealerships.

i thought that ITR's 2000-2001 came with the VIN etched from the dealer like that, as a standard theft deterrent?

It was optional. Didn't have it in 2000, AFAIK.

im a little confused....
if everyone covers up their vin from being exposed, then what is the purpose of having it etched into the glass. cant everyone see it? i know it is to deter thiefs, but im sure people dont steal R's for the glass, its the same as all tegs.

i believe the purpose of the vins on the windows is if a thief steals the car, the windows and parts are pretty much worthless, no junkyard is willing to buy the vins if they have a stolen background, and if for some reason you have a mis-matching of vins, you could be in trouble.

while that theft deterrent stuff works for most cars, our sought after cars never make it to junkyards where the parts would need to be resold. they are resold to friends of the theives, or put into their own cars, or sold on ebay or local message forums.

indeed true, but with the Vins on the windsheilds it makes it like 5% harder i guess, for example on here you have to provide vins for most car parts.
say i buy a drivers glass, i would be curious if the VIN is clear or not.

The glass of these cars are peanuts compared to what they get for the rest of the car. I dont think to a thief vin etched glass makes a big difference.
