Default Blank white female 22 pin plug taped to under dash harness

Hey

94 teg dash harness, I was looking at it today and found that it has been spliced into.

Here is the splicing

And here is what most (I think all?) of the spliced wires go to. Female 24 pin connector with 22 pins in it.

Is this something for a trailer hitch or somethin? From what I can tell the wires that are spliced are

C6 - Orange - Speedometer
C10 - Red/Blk - Gauge Lights
C13 - Grn/Blu - Left Turn Signal

D4 - Yellow - Power

Also further down the line some grounds are spliced into also. Whats goin on?

Haha, well on the contrary I think it was done by a professional. There was electrical tape on each of the connections, but the tape wasnt simply wrapped around. It was looped around once, taped the sticky sides together, then wrapped totally around till it was all wrapped up...

Kinda hard to explain, but it looks like the tape that surrounds the wires going to the steering column and ignition.

I will definately clean it up, but anyone know WHY its there or WHAT it does?

Also - of it makes a difference the harness came from an Auto 94 teg

Maybe it went to some gauges, or some other kind of data display devise? Speedometer, Gauge Lights, Left Turn Signal - kinda random wires.

I've made the mistake of unraping a civic vtec harness and it has a few of the same splices. This harness came with the car when I bought it with only 6 miles on the odometer. So I wouldn't worry too much about it being wrong or something. Thats my opinion and you know what they say about opinions......

Turns out I have looked at a few other harnesses and found the same thing. Even the white box, (Except it was blue on my civic). good thing I didnt search too hard and start making adjustments!
