New to Honda Tech & Car Mods
Hey everyone--
I'm new to the forum and even to spicing up any engine. All I know how to do is regular maintenance (oil, breaks etc...) but I wanna install a RAM intake on my 99 CIVIC LX, and I'm not sure what I need to do.
Any how-to weblinks out there? I've been searching with no luck. I know i gotta take out the old box and then put in the new intake and make sure that the sensors are in place... but a step-by-step guide would be great. With pics, even better.
Thanks-
Michel

uh... dude intake is pretty much common sense. take off everything from the TB forward and replace with kit pieces. unless I'm forgetting something
lol

hehe, installing an Intake is the EASIEST of all things. Search if you want, but its pretty much common sense on the Civic.
Unbolt everything you see that connects to the intake box and throttle body, pull it all out, put the "RAM" intake tube in the throttle body along with the included coupler, strap it down with the hose clamp, do the same with the filter and your set. Connect the included tube from your valve cover to your intake tube and your done.
Take off the bumper if you arent too lazy to remove the intake resonator box hidden behind the passengers side....
Good luck and search if you need help

sensor issue is piece of cake. there should only be one, a rubber insulated plug. its the intake air temperature sensor. just unplug it, and plug it back into the new inake. you cant get it wrong, theres only one place to plug it into because the wiring isnt that long.
seeing as you have an lx, you must have the d16y7, meaning you have a big stupid airbox above the intake manifold, with a rectangular filter. yes i had one too. to remove the airbox, theres a hose clamp thats hard to get to, you might need a mirror, or to remove/loosen another component to get to the screw on the hose clamp. otherwise, piece of cake, just dont do this on a warm engine, you'll burn yourself quite well on the valve cover and intake manifold.
