Default b16 swap into eg

now i was trying to figure everything out , but i seem a little confused. first what are the differances between a 1st and 2nd gen b16. Isnt the 1st gen 88-91 2nd gen 92 and on . Is there a 3rd gen? Now what are the engine codes for the 2gen b16's USDM. Is the 99-00si a 2 gen b16. Now is it possible to find a newer b16 94-95 for less then 2000$. with all the nessesary parts , tranny ecu.... Here comes the most important question . Is an b16 engine swap a weekend project. Is wiring for vtec ready only in a vx and si or is it easy to do it in all the trim levels . I might get a cheap 92-95 and swap an engine into it .

all 92-95 are pre wired for v-tec... Im am getting ready for this swap myself and am wondering if I can see any gains by using a different ecu, or maybe putting a gsr head on it (is this possible)

yes vtec is only prewired in all models in 92. 93-95 ex is prewired. thats all (i think)
its not hard to run the wire just may take some time if you have no idea what your doing.
as for diffrence get a second gen
the biggest diffrence is the first gen b16's have cable transmissions. the second are hydraullic based. your car is hydraullic. you will wind up spending MORE on the first gen motor after all the crap your gonna need to make it work in a 5g civic.
i did my swap in about 4 days (+ time for parts to be shipped) and ive never done this before and we ran into some severe problems. but it runs now hehehe.

go with a 1st gen b16 SCC just did a story in how to swap ina 1st gen b16 into an eg civic. Its not that hard at all and you only need a couple things to do it like motor mounts wire harness and hydro to cable tranny conversion. All in all its a pretty cheap way to go since if you search around you can find an engine tanny and ecu for around 1000 dollars where as most 2nd gens cost 2500. Get the SCC issue read up and have fun. And you can do other mods like intake header exhaust ect ect with the money you save. HASport. com has all the conversion parts you'll need. Hope i've helped out with my .02 I have a b18c in my 94 civic coupe and although i do love it alot im feeling it in my wallet. It ended up costing almost 4000 after buying the engine+shipping+extra parts. I could have got a 1st gen b16 and turbo'd it for that kinda money.

mine was a piece of cake too. don't sell anything from your old engine until you have the new one in and running. i was pulling bolts and sensors here and there to get it to work. and don't forget to take the obligatory "inside the engine bay" pic!
