Default SoCal Dyno Day Results

Well i don't have everyones numbers but there were some pretty cool cars there. I just thought i might want to post a comparision of my first dyno run back in december 1st and today's.

Looks like my jdm 4-1 header helped alot! I thought i had a weak motor but now i think its pretty decent.

First Run (December 1st, SoCal Dyno Day)

Second Run (February 24th, SoCal Dyno Day)

Variables that have been changed since the first run, 1) Removed aem bypass valve, 2) JDM 4-1 header/carsound cat(54006)/apex n-1 cat back, 3)Removed Power Steering Belt.

You're torque looks a little low.

Maybe you should check your ignition timing.

Also, what plugs and wires are you using? -mileage on them?

And, mileage on the engine?

what mods did you have for your 1st run?
My car made 157 whp, 113 wtq with
Comptech header, Comptech exhaust, Icebox, adv timing and Mobil1 oil.

IN-Vtec: Yeah i was afraid of my torque number...does look pretty low to me. I'm on factory ignition timing and stock plugs/wires etc...miles on engine at today's run was 4804 mi.

1fastGSR: First run was all stock except aem cai.

you do not need plugs or wires unless you have a lot of miles on the engine. Spend your money on something else.
Try advancing the timing to 18 deg. ALso try syn. oil.

I was expecting you to have much higher mileage.

My GS-R made 146whp and 116 lb*ft w/ the following:

DC 4-2-1 SS header
K&N RU-3130 (lid off - hood open)
Mozart Twin Loop axle-back muffler
ignition timing @ 18 deg BTDC
Mobil1, but I don't think the oil has much to do with it.
NGK BKR6E-11 (@ 15k miles and lookin' bad after I dyno'd)
original plug wires
69k miles on the engine and plug wires

With the ignition timing @ 16 deg BTDC, I only managed 142whp and 114 lb*ft

I still think my car is rather weak tho b/c my friend's ITR walks all over me (he dyno'd 164whp and 119lb*ft w/ just a Spoon drop-in filter).

Man, I really want a JDM ITR header now.

Yeah...one problem with the JDM header is that it required me to get a new cat. Although the high-flo cat did help me, i'm throwing the same CEL every 200-300 miles. I have to reset my ecu quite often and its very annoying . I think i'm gonna try and just let it run and see if it will fix itself (i doubt it though)...

1fastGSR: What extra mods did you do to your car to get 176 and 125 lbs ft of torque?! thats impressive

IN VTEC: Don't worry...even if us GSRs make the same number as an ITR we still have the disadvantage of a longer gears, heavier body weight and heavier flywheel. Your torque number is good for the mods, but i don't know why your hp is so low?

i was bored and i made the crappiest overlay with photoshop. It was hard since the y-axis didn't have the same intervals so i just moved it around.

By looking at the graph, it does not look like i am losing ANY mid range power. But i could wrong since this overlay is kinda shi*ty. 4-1 header Look at that top end baby!

I think it's b/c I'm running really rich above 5500 rpm. It seems that whenever the IAB valve opens, teh black smoke starts spewin'. They had to close the door to the shop b/c I was suffocating everyone with 15 feet-shootin' exhaust soot.

Man, after all the money I've already sunk into my car, I'm starting to find that I really need a new header and VAFC, but I'm also gonna wanna get cams too if I get teh VAFC. *shrugs* oh well

Looks like you got good gains. Try getting Type R cams and cam gears and dyno tune everything again.

hehe, i actually have type R cams sitting in my room with skunk2 cam gears and a vafc keeping it company. I'm selling my R cams for something more aggressive though.
