I just recieved my rear lip in the mail today, and i held it up to my back bumper, and relized it wont fit cause of my exhaust. What should i do?? any suggestions? The only thing i can think of is cutting the lip in 2peices, wich would look ugly
what should i do???
what should i do???
If the muffler hits the lip, and you're afraid of melting/burning, do NOT cut/grind the rear lip. Yank the muffler down super hard so it creates enough clearance. Now, insert something into the two rubber hangers to keep the muffler down, and use some zip ties to secure whatever objects you used. Some people use cut-up PVC piping; I used hard teflon spacers. Worked great for me for the two years I had it and has also worked well for others. Very easy fix to create clearance between exhaust tips and bumpers/lips.
ya its an eg with a 3 1/2" tenzo type2 exhaust. i would have to cut the lip in 2 pieces to make it fit. the exhaust is directly in the way. although my exhaust doesnt stick out. its flush with the rear bumper, i can make the lip fit with no cutting, but it would sit like 1/4" in front of the exhaust. but i dont know if i should do that, cause it would probably create back pressure. and mabie melt the lip? i dont know.

Your questions been answered. Trimming the lip looks the best IMO.

hmm not a bad idea, but the muffler would look a bit weird/angled downwards, and my car is slammed on 13's so there would be alot of exhaust scraping, but thats probably what i'll have to do. Unless you guys think its ok to put the lip on and have it just pretty much block off the exhaust. the exhaust would sit about 1/4" away from lip, so the exhaust wont actually be touching the lip, do you think it would still melt the lip?? and what about back pressure?

It would look weird if you're yanking it down like 5 or 10", but you'll most likely end up lowering it by about 1/2" or less. Mine was lowered about 1/4", just enough for clearance. No worries about it looking strange.
If you put the lip on as the exhaust is now, the lip will most likely be damaged. Can't say if it'll be burned or not but at the very least it'll probably be discolored black by exhaust soot.
I highly doubt you'll have to worry about the lip restricting exhaust flow.
