I have read of a few tranny problems on this page, but non seem like mine.....I have a D series w/ a rps turbo clutch and fidanza lightweight flywheel. Just about everytime I go into second gear it will grind and go right out. Some times it will jerk pretty bad and throw the shifter out of the gear. There is also a lot of play in the shifter. Im not sure if the play is from the mounts and the 2nd gear problem is the linkage or syncros. But would it even be worth paying the money to get **** replaced. Or should i just try and find a used D tranny.

 

I don't think financially it's good to rebuild it. Used D-series trannys as so plentiful and cheap $150-$350 range so why rebuild it.

 

Yeah thats exactly what I was wondering. I just was not sure how much they could be had for.

 

drivers side upper motor mount......then the countershaft clutch side case bearing.

 

Whats all that lol? Im pretty sure the mounts are fucked too. A ton of play and the tranny feels like it vibrates like a mo fo.

 

first thing you learn about 88-00 SOHC trannys, if a person blames the synchros, he has no freaking clue what he is talking about.

I've had to replace just 4 synchros in my tranny which I ABUSE greatly. One was replaced due to a shifter fork breakage.........



The other 3 from 6 years of HARD racing on this tranny.
