Default HELP! Excessive valve tapping

I just installed some Type R cams in my CRX B16. After the install i went in to readjust my valves. They were set at .006 exhaust and .005 intake. They tap like there is no tomorrow. Even after initial startup and even when the motor was to normal operation. I then reset them while motor is completely cold the next day and set them at .005 exhaust and .004 intake. They are still making the same tapping.

I was debating on going .000 valve lash or slightly tighter than what it is now, but wanted to get a second opinion

Motor has about 50k, I/H/E and the DAMN tapping!
Running Castrol 10-30W synthetec

Does anyone know of a resolution or experienced something like this?

Your valve clearance should be .006-007 intake, and .007-008 exhaust. where are you putting your feeler gague to take the measurement? Your valve lash is way to tight, and you are going to damage your cams. You are either setting the lash wrong, have bad lma's or your injectors are ticking loudly, whicj is common on obd0 swaps.

im gauging right between the valve stem and the screw for adjustment. Yea, i was gauging the specs the first time, but they were tapping too much so i closed the gap thinking it needed to be closer. But ill reevaluate and see if its not the injectors or the lmas?

The swap is an OBD 1 conversion

Thanks for the info

Alright, i've narrowed it down to the LMAS, Damn it!

When i pulled the valve cover off for the 100's time, i was pushing down on the LMAS and a couple of them were a bit sticky. Is there a way i can solve this problem without taking the head off and replacing them? Dont really got time nor the funds right now to down the car.

Will running the car like this damage my valve train or CAMS? Car runs great, i just take it easy.

Any help and pointers will be greatly appreciated, thanks
