Ball Joints?
I'm replacing all the ball joints in my EG (on the knuckle and arm) and I thinking of getting them from my local Autozone/Advance parts store. I wanted to know if there is any mystery to ball joints? Also, is there a particular brand that I should stay away from?
Just use OEM - the lower is the only one that you can replace ($35), and it is pressed in. The upper is part of the control arm and cannot be replaced separately. The tie rod balljoint is also part of the tie rod, but those are cheap ($35-$40). When you order balljoints, order a few spare boots and clips as well, they will melt and crack.

The reason is because this chassis has 160k miles on it and all the rubber was cracked. So, I wanted to replace anything that's a wear item. The ball joints don't look bad in the upper arm. On the knuckle and tie rod, they don't have very little grease and what is left is crap. So, wanting to be safe than sorry, I wanted to replace them.
RJ,
Thanks for the info. I just goes to show you last time I've replaced ball joints. Oh, writing the check now for the platnium plated, engraved, shiny ball joints as we speak. Right

yes too much money for the suspension geometry correction. That is why I will correct my geometry a different way
using stock components.
The benefit is definitely there however, to make the corrections you need because of lowering.

Those J's racing parts are very expensive. I wonder if anyone buys that stuff?
