Default engine knock/rod knock?

Anyone know if running a motor for less than a minute without oil will cause it? such as forgetting you jus drained all the oil out and ran it for roughly 30 secs? lol. or it could be noisy valves? but they were pretty quiet before. and it was jus switched from synthetic oil to normal petrol oil.

Time will tell. If you didn't drive it (only let it idle, you MAY not have damaged anything. ) If, on the other hand, you now hear the cam followers clicking (whereas before they were quiet) would indicate cam lobe wear.
I'd suggest pulling the valve cover and inspect the cam lobes and followers. They should be mirror smooth and show no signs of scoring.

thanks for the 2cents man. appreciate it. its an old car anyway. anyone know how much it would cost to swap in the same motor w/lower mileage or a more performance motor but not too expensive? i know the h22 is an option and so is the sohc vtec from the 94 accord ex but id like to hear some more opinions. thanks yall

Well to put it into perpective a used f22 is roughly $600 depending it you buy it online or from a local junkyard with or without warranty. For a little more you can get some engines with prettly low mileage. I got a used one with 70,000 miles and runs good. A little over $2000 will get you and h22a w/o an limited slip diff. For a couple hundred dollars more you can get one with a limited slip. It all depends on you driving. How much are you willing to spend is the biggest question. You should be committed to your car if you want an h22 otherwise just buy anoter stock engine.

my teacher wanted to try this with an engine

"see how long it takes to kill an engine with the oil drained"

it ran for 59 seconds and died

so he wanted to see how bad he messed it up so he filedl the motor back up with oil and tried to start and run the engine, it ran for 1minute and 1 second
