Default VAFC tuning with i/h/e

I know there aren't significant gains adding a vafc to a car with i/h/e, but i heard that you can still get maybe 1-2 hp out of it. I'm going to the socal dyno day and i was wondering if anyone knows if I should do any adjustments or just leave everything stock? The dyno runs are 2 baseline runs and therefore i can't tune it on the dyno.

Well the VAFC isn't much help for now, but it will be later on. I'm considering selling it in favor for a chipped ecu and a hondata.

Vegeta: Once i get my cams installed with cam gears and stuff i'll im you, thanks

They are not worth the trouble. Your check engine could come on and you're right about the small increase in hp. You might as well get the AEM pullies for 2-3 hp.

not a flame, but where do you guys get this stuff? i mean honestly. " i heard it gets 1 hp i heard it gets 2 hp" Has anyone ever seen a before and after dyno chart of an integ tuned with a vafc on the dyno with a wideband O2 so you can see the af ratio and adjust the fuel settings properly? I have, granted not on a GSR. This is LoudAccord's dyno before and after vafc tuning. took us 8 runs to get to this point:

BTW this is a jdm h22a with i/h/e and vafc. I guess the vafc is really worthless....

With I/H/E you can actually see some significant gains. Not all out crazy but impressive none the less.

I think its quite impressive. from 4700 to 5500 he gained almost 30hp. From 5500- he got 7-10hp by leaning out the top end. its much stronger in the midrange and makes more power up top. He uses less gas because its not running so damn rich anymore. thats pretty good for 300 for the vafc and 100 for dyno tuning if you ask me.

Damn that is crazy! I wish that was possible on a b-series motor. I'm confused, why do you get more hp by leaning out?

usually cars are running rich from the factory.
so leaning it out will free some power.

IMO

you dont' need any electronics right now, you want more parts.
Save for the cams.

Yeah i was looking ahead though. I know i'm going to get cams, and if i get more aggressive cams i'm going to need something to change my vtec engagement cause stock vtec x-over is way too early for aftermarket cams.

I've got Type-R Cams in my Gsr with Toda cam gears and FPR set at 40 psi with lightened flywheel, I've currently got my x-over at 5200, is that too low. What other fuel settings should I have?

Mine is set at 5300rpms with type-R cams..

So it sounds about right, better go to dyno and find out for sure.

The VAFC is a great tuning method once you have a signifigant amount of mods. Cams... you pretty much need it... ignition, fuel system, NOS, etc... it will help a little... not really enough to justify $400 though (including tuning).

DO NOT SET YOUR V-AFC TO THE SAME SETTINGS AS YOU HAVE READ OTHERS ARE USING. NO TWO ENGINES ARE IDENTICAL. THE ALTITUDE AND FUEL GRADE'S AVAILABLE WILL DIFFER. THIS IS A SURE WAY TO LEAN OUT YOUR ENGINE AND SEND IT TO THE JUNK YARD (OR REBUILD IT TO A MONSTER AS MY FRIEND IS DOING). EITHER WAY, DON'T TRY TO SAVE $100 BY JUST USING SOMEONE ELSES SETTINGS!
