should i buy used koni's?
i'm looking at a set of used koni's yellows. does the lifetime warranty carry over to the next owner? does the other person have to still have the recipts for the warranty? i don't want to buy them and have them blow on me and not be able to get a new one free. help me out here....
I don't know if the warranty is transferable, but I would find out how many miles are on them, and with what springs (more specifically, what spring rates) they were used with. Off-the-shelf Koni yellows are supposed to handle up to 600# spring rates, but I've been told that they don't last as long when they're used with higher spring rates (500+#s).
i highly doubt the warranty carries over to the next owner after the original owner sells them... does the other guy not have receipts for them? god i hope they are NOT stolen... i have Koni yellows and that would **** me off if someome stole my car stripped it and sold them... btw they cost about $500 new... how much are the ones your looking at? anyway unless their pretty cheap i wouldnt get them.. plus you dont know how many miles are on them or anything...
i bought them used, had 15,000 miles on them...I checked them out before I bought them. Also, the seller told me if they ever blew, he would just give me my money back. Ive had them for a while now and I have had no problems with them.
for $100 + parts, shipping, etc.. you might as well buy a new one.. all 4 of mine were only about $500... and thats new.... how much are the used ones going for anyway?

I was looking into buying some used Koni yellows myself but decided against it. Reason being that used once were at least 1~2 years old. And the sellers were all asking like $350+ for their 1~2 year used shocks.
For $350, I can get brand new sets of KYB AGX adjustables. Yeah they're not koni yellows, but still I'd rather have brand new sets instead of used ones that might need rebuilding. And I doubt the warranty is transferable to the second owner.
Besides, I'm very poor and I cannot afford to pay $500 for shocks alone. I'm not looking to doing any auto-x'ing anyways.
If you're going to do some auto-x I'd suggest you save up and go for brand new koni sports (yellows).
