this is where the search is MOST useful... too bad it's DOWN!

There could be many possibilities as to why VTEC is not engaging. i'll list some:
-dented oil pan (oil pickup)
-go at least 25mph (?)
-be at operating temp
-disconnected wires/plugs
-grounds
-not enough oil

the list can go on and on. try pulling any CEL codes

could an oil leak from the oil pan prevent from having enough oil pressure? PSI is supposed to be at 60 when VTEC engages right?

check your oil.....i know mine leaks a little and when it gets low it kinda gives u a misisng feeling when it hits v-tec and if u dont put any in it, then it wont even kick in.....and also they are temperature actuated.......so it wont kick in if it is cold....prolly already knew all this but just thought i would tell ya-

MINOR oil leaks shouldn't be a problem but if it's dripping... that could be a problem

Yeah...mine's drippin' but i just picked up a oil pan gasket just to be sure. VTEC does not engage at all. I haven't had a chance to do an oil change since i bought the car, but did need to add some(used Quaker Fully Synthetic 5w30). Oil Pressure PSI? Oh yeah....changed my username.

Tried my friends chipped P28 at 5000 and still no VTEC poppin'. Man this is annoying the hell outta me. All i can think of now is the oil pressure or the solenoid.?

Solenoid works, did oil change. Still no VTEC!!! Threw code 22, which is the VTEC pressure valve. I do have the green plug, could this mean that the plug is simply no good?

Also...I threw code 1, o2 Sensor. I was wondering if having a bad sensor like that could VTEC into limp mode?

I'm pretty sure any emissions related cel codes automatically put the ecu in full limp mode. You need to tackle those cels because they are probably the root of your problem.

I hope your not serious. You just made this guy change his oil for no reason. Although oil changes never hurt. If your throwing a CEL, the ECU could be running limp. Check your oil level, continuity between ECU and VTEC selenoid, and your wiring. Did this just start or has it never worked?

I'm have a similar problem. Checked the ecu, switched it; the solenoid, spool valve and oil pressure switch, switched them, still did not work. Checked the oil pressure, still does not work; changed the oil, still does not engage the vtec, the oil pan is ok, no dripping oil; rewired the solenoid to the ecu, still does not work. Still gives a code 22. Bought a new oil pressure switch. Still no go. Can't figure it out. Maybe the oil pump? I give up. I am taking it to Honda.

No I thought since this thread was stated by a guy with LS/VTEC, and you replied with the same problem, that you also had a LS/VTEC. Sorry for the assumtion but no I have a C1 in a 94 coupe. Which I also think Honda would not work on.
