I have a d16z6 in a 94 eg6. Recently my car started to overheat. I already flushed the coolant and replaced it with new coolant. I also changed the radiator cap, and thermostat. Do you guys think it could be a blown head gasket?Also how much is a head gasket for my motor? what else do you guys think the problem could be. All replys are appreciated. thanks.

 

you'll be blowing smoke if your headgasket is leaking...

did you bleed the air out of the coolant?
also, is your fan working correctly?

 

is there coolant in the oil sump? does your fan kick on at all? does the coolant level drop significantly? check the obvious before you go into something more technical like removing the head.

 

yeah check all the obvious. see if there is water coming out of your exhaust
oil in you coolant cooland in you oil. check your fan. check you water pump.
if all that checks out fine check your radiator.

your stock water temperature gauge showing a sign of overheating? or did you open up the hood to see the car overheats?

get this fixed asap bc you can really mess up lotta things. i'd say do a leak down test and a compression test.

that'll help you figure out if it's head gasket, piston rings, or other parts that are not right.

another factor could be the wirings. check to see if the wires are giving continous voltages. it will take time but hopefully you can get it done.

have a good mechanic fix it if you have money.

it's easy to see if your fan is coming on or not...
when your car is overheatting, the fan should be on.
i think the fan comes on around 200*F

oh, and you did mix the coolant with water when you replaced it right?
(just making sure)

 

Did this happen before or after you replaced the coolant? If it happened before you did so it could be a fan or a water pump. If it happened after you propably have an air bubble in your system somewhere.
