intake or universal cone k&n filter??
What is the best for our accords the warm/cold air intake kit or just a 360degree cone filter in the current system? Tell me the goods and bads of both getting ready to make my decision soon for my upgrade.
Personally I think short ram is the best with a Cone filter that is metal not plastic because you get more torque out of your car. From my experience you get more power from a short ram intake with a nice filter than you would out of a cold air intake. Some people may have there own personal opinions...
Generally speaking, any intake system which pulls air from the engine compartment is considered a warm air system. A true cold air system involves plumbing which carries the air intake (filter or other) outside the engine compartment (traditionally behind the front bumper fascia).
Taking liberally from sonic reversion theories utilized in expansion chamber type exhaust systems for 2 cycle motorcycles, a shorter system (exhaust or intake) will develope better power in the high rpm range. While long(er) systems generally develope better power in the low(er) rpm ranges.
Just remember that there is no (even in the wonderful world of sport compacts) free lunch. All things being equal, with no other mods, for every gain there's a loss somewhere.
Just like camshafts: put a really radical grind in and yes, you'll make all manner of power at 6000rpm, but the d...m thing can't be driven on the street.

Was debating on an intake from eBay and putting on a K&N or just getting rid of my airbox and mounting a K&N on the end. I guess if I would have been more specific it would have helped. LOL I am still a Noob at the mods.
eBay intake tube wrapped with DEI exhaust wrap or thermal coated, with a K&N filter w/a heat shield, should be better than anything else. My short ram is just a K&N with plastic tube that doesnt retain heat as much as metal does.
Noooooo, being a Noob is not asking questions. It's not you (I tend to prattle on at times.)
taking your existing air intake tube and modifying it holds merit. If the K&N filter can be mounted direct to the tube, and there's space to accommodate it the only thing you'll loose is some chrome and the Brand Name bragging rights
