92 Honda Accord Overheating
I just replaced the timing belt and waterpump, and all the oil seals. I just bought this car, and I have no history on it. I paid $250.00 for it, and when I bought it, it didn't run. I was just the ignitor in the distributor. Before I replace the timing belt and water pump, the car ran great with no overheating at all. I bought the waterpump off of Ebay, and it was an OEM Honda Waterpump. I've put a 1000 miles on the car prior to changing out the timing belt, and no problems at all. Car runs perfect, but overheats badly now after about 20 miles of driving. The radiator pushes all the coolant into the overflow tank, and after this the car runs warm. I don't know if it has a coolant circulation problem. I'm thinking possibly of a faulty waterpump. The waterpump doesn't leak at all, but may lack the power to circulate the coolant in the system. Car runs great other than this!
Although a rareity, there are occasions where you have to purge air from the cooling system, (Particularly after replacing a waterpump).
My car required raising the front of the vehicle about three feet to allow the airbound engine to give up the bubble of air interupting circulation.
I would also check that the fans start up as the engine starts to overheat.
