Does anyone know what colour as well as the kind of material that covers the rim of the JDM DC5R steering wheel? I've seen pics of this wheel and it looks like a grey colour whereas the USDM RSX steering wheels are either black or tan. I've felt the USDM RSX wheels and they feel like leather - well, at least it feels like leather to me. Can anyone confirm if the JDM DC5R wheels are leather as well?

 

They are still leather, although a visibly higher quality. The stitching is doubled and still red. It also says Momo on it, whereas the USDM do not.

The only ones I've ever seen are black. I suppose there could be another colour and I've just never seen it.

If you are thinking about buying one of these, please be prepared for what you will have to do to get the airbag to work correctly. You will actually have to switch the USDM control from the USDM wheel onto the JDM wheel.

 

Thanks for the info. I've never held one in my hands before so thought I'd ask. Actually, I want to get the DC5R wheel for my '99 SiR. Should be a direct bolt-on and the airbag plugs are the same or so I've been told on numerous occassions.

 

They arent leather wrapped like the USDM type s. If you look at the DC5R wheel, u can see there is no leather creases.

How's the leather put on?

Oh, one more thing: The JDM wheels appear to be slightly smaller than the USDM wheels.

Yeah, the one in the pic looks black to me but I think I've seen grey ones as well. But the black one is the most common. More importantly to me though, is this thing leather wrapped? Has anyone actually physically held one in their hands that can tell me what material is this thing wrapped in? Case in point, I have a CTR SRS Momo steering wheel but it's not leather even though it has the double red stitching.
