Default Stopping for bike accidents?

So if you are comming to an accident seen involving another bike do you stop?
I as just heading home and as i am comming up the road i see a brand new GSXR600 sitting under a car. I slow with traffic and see the rider up and walking around. there were about 3 cops on the scene and i was going in the other direction.

My queston would be should I have stopped out of respect for fellow riders? I check out the bike to first make sure it was nobody i knew.

I am glad I was only 5 minutes from home. After seeing that i got chills and wasn't in a riding mood anymore.
To top it off i was being tailgated by some middle aged bitch, on a cell phone, in her volvo.

If the cops are already there then there's nothing you can really do to help. If I just see a downed bike or rider I'll stop and check on the rider and see if (s)he is ok and call for help if they need it then try and direct traffic if the bike is in the road or if it spilled some fluids so other riders dont crash. Just dont do anything stupid like take off his helmet if he's unconscious.

yea i agree with etylorcen, if cops are already there then i guess everything is taken care of. but if i saw a rider go down in front of me or if it just happened i would definitely stop and see if he/she is ok.

Yea I would have to agree, If cops are there, not much you can do. But if i see something happen I will help any way I can. Bad enough to get in a wreck, or bad drop with out anyone to help you.

I think it is great to stop and help out even if it is a fellow rider, but don't do more than you are qualified to.

if someone is already there, and it doesnt look serious(i.e guy is walking around) then i wont stop. if cops are there, i wont stop. do you think the cops actually want you crowding around the scene?

Couldnt have said it better. Ive seen other riders try to help someone up after a really bad crash and try to take off their helmet.

Yesterday, my friends and I were coming back down from Ortega Hwy and on the last stretch, where things start to straighten out, we saw the lights of cops and medics and when we came closer, saw the downed bike.. not much we could do.

I think, sometimes, we'd be more of a nuisance and danger to stop. People should keep the traffic moving and don't rubber neck either. That can also be dangerous.
