Please, someone correct me if I am wrong.
I believe the Siebond does not come with any of the mounting hardware and the rear window must be bought seperately. If this is the case, I believe the hardware is almost $500. Consider that after buying the hardware and the rear window you are probably $4200 into a hardtop of questionable quality and fitment. The price difference doesn't seem worth it to me. I would buy the Mugen.

Hell, if this were true, I'd worry about the Seibon fluttering off the car at highway speeds. The only way i know to get something like a hardtop lighter than the Mugen one yet maintaining rigidity would be to use dry carbon, forming and mending in an ultra high tech, and high cost pressure cooker.
I doubt they are making product of that quality, if they were, their marketing department has a lot to learn. Why the hell would you offer such a high quality product, that is made using expensive curing processes, to such a small target market? Why not make high quality, low priced Mugen knock off hoods for Integras and Civics. There's a much larger market they can cater to, and use the equities of scale to bring down their production costs even further, subsequently increasing margins.
I wouldn't even deal with the S2000 crowd, I'd be making stuff for Mustangs, and C6's. There's more market penetration with more disposable income with the older demographic of those cars' owner bases. Those owners are willing to pay good $$$ for high quality pieces like a lighter weight, yet rigid Seibon hardtop....
....oh wait, there's a good chance that the Seibon isn't lighter, or more rigid (than either the CF or the FRP).

Seibon = Fake mugen, fitment is a 50/50 chance that it will fit perfectly
Mugen = REAL DEAL JDM BLING, fitment 100% like OEM.
It just depend on how big is your C.C limit is hahaha

The mugen hardtop is fully wrapped carbon inside and out and the seibon is just wrapped on the outside.

It's not "wrapped" anything. It's a triple fused layer of cf. There's the then center section that I'm assuming is made of fiber reinforced with some plastic, and the two cf layers that sandwich the center.
They are fused together using an autoclave...this enhances rigidity, and maintains the lightweight nature of dry carbon.

I was told that SEIBON carbon fiber products are known to be the best aftermarket products to be best fitted? Anyone know of this? Or have any opinions?
You ever see a Mugen-style hood made by Seibon and how it fits....even after taking extensive time in getting it to fit right?
BTW, for those that own Seibon products, please don't take it as a personal knock from me. This is my opinion about Seibon products and not on those that buy it.
BTW, you can razz me about spending the $$$ that I did for the Mugen stuff...I won't mind. I get it all day, everyday from my wife anyway.

Perhaps the most exciting product available for an S2000, the Mugen hardtop <U>combines leading edge design and manufacturing technology to provide a product that has no equal.</U> In an effort to optimize aerodynamics extensive wind tunnel testing was performed in full scale “rolling road” format. The molding process utilizes a true autoclave environment for a final product that holds very tight dimensional tolerances – in other words, the fit and finish can not be matched.
The Mugen hardtop comes complete with every factory Honda seal, panel, and hardware piece you will need for installation. Expect approximately 4 hours for installation. The rear window is of polycarbonate construction and does not utilize a rear defrost mechanism.
Available in either Carbon Fiber (34lbs) or Fiberglass (44lbs) construction. The carbon fiber version comes ready for installation with a UV protected clear-coat, and the fiberglass version comes ready for final prep and paint. </TD></TR></TABLE>

well being that fact that Seibon took a Mugen HT and straight copied it i wouldnt think that there are major issues with styling differences but maybe fitment issues. If you dont know that story then https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch. Personnally Seibon is the Rota of Carbon Fiber. If you want to have the look w/o paying the money i think they are first in line. Other wise just buy a Mugen its like 2k more but hell thats like what 1 or 2 more things you can buy with the extra 2k saved lol.
I have seen both in real life. First of all Mugen is made out of Dry carbon and the strength is very good which Mugen has already tested before they sell to the public.
Seibon is a nice copy but does anyone know if they are as strong as a Mugen ? IMo not.
Second is the fitment issue. No questions to Mugen (OEM quality). I have seen Seibon, they fitted not bad but ofcuz not as perfect as Mugen.
Third is the price. Seibon is half the price of the Mugen (or less) so the thing is if you wanna be cheap to fool around with low end products or just pay and get the right stuff.
Just my 0.2 cents

mugen also comes with a nice authentic badge with a number on it.... (now thats bling) ... lol....
and i've seen two seibon tops first hand... and they both seemed to fit very well... and no complaints from the owners...
and if you're gonna end up painting it just get the mugen fiberglass one.... the carbon fiber look is starting to get over played a little....
