Default New motor problems. Starting but cutting off

okay i had a previous fully built ls/vtec setup. The ONLY thing i had to do was bore out, and replace all 4 pistons. i just got it all back together tonight and attempted to start her up. It just kept cranking kinda sounding like its gonna turn over. I gave it gas then it kinda ran, sounding a little shitty and rough, and as soon as i let off the gas it died.

it may be the timing. It wasnt set right i guess. The belt flaps because its loose so we're going to fix it in the morning. It still held the time though.. HOPEFULLY. Would a tooth off cause it to do what its doing?

No CELs, full pressure it up, oil was primed, its all good.

okay an update. I highly doubt the timing is off. Ive done is several times and its the same... when i crank it, it almost sounds like there's no spark.. kinda like when you do a compression test. Well when i give it gas, i can hold it at 1k-1500k steady, and it sounds descent. Kinda rough though. As soon as i let off it dies. WTF????

Ive used 2 sets of spark plugs just to make sure it wasnt the plugs. All wires are still connected, all plugs are plugged up. No CEL's come up.. im ****** lost.

Another issue... rear main seall... is leakin like a champ.. but thats besides the point. Thats another damn headache itself. A 4 hour headache.

Checked all my connections, there is no Check Engine Lights...If timing was off just a hair, would it cause it to stop running as soon as I let off the gas?
