Default Dam another exhaust ticket? Help

Its no longer a fix it ticket in CA My first offense 3 months back got nailed for $77, since this is my second it will double close to $160! By the same cop, wtf!!! Can someone recommend a quiet set-up? Cops around here suck, so it needs to look stock and sound quiet, thanks? So far I have a JDM 4-1 and Carsound 94006 connected to a rice *** Banzai muffler....don't ask I got a good deal on it

go to SEMA.org and go to court with the modified exhaust bill on their site. Govenor Davis sign a bill saying its ok to have one, just cant be over a certain noise level

You're already 2 1/2" to the cat so besides the ITR,

I suggest the SMSP, or Hytech catback.

SMSP uses a Magnaflow muffler
Hytech uses it's own design
OEM/ITR would conform to any current laws and it is stealthy

Good luck,

A.

PS I am curious which muffler you are running that seems to attract so much of this officers attention? C'mon, indulge me...

Id say to go for the Comptech catback system. Its really quiet just a nice deep tone and you will hear it scream at WOT. Its also really pretty hehehehe all stainless steel

Yeah the comptech is also a really nice exhaust, i like the tone it has too. Not loud at all, but very sporty.

holy $hit since when is it non correctable? I got an exhaust ticket for my Greddy Evo in Hollywood, California while driving back to work... I showed the cop the Greddy papers stating it complied w/ V.C. 27151 (i think thats the code violation) and he REFUSED to look at it.. so he cited me.. anyway i went to the CHP station in Downtown (its ghetto).. and the desk duty cop signed off my ticket... this was in 2001 (around april i think) though...

so for 2002 its not a fix it ticket anymore? what do you have to do just pay the fine? or do you have to prove you corrected it and get it signed off and pay the fine? man that sux..

oh yeah i had to pay a small "processing' fee or whatever i forget the cost.. i could try to find my check book and see if i can find the check amount.. but it was nowhere near $160... also the cops at the Altadena CHP station are pretty coo.. they signed off my friends Tanabe G-power medallion and the cop was like 'you got cited for this? its not even half as loud as some of the others out there"

i dont know what you want to spend on a exhaust but i would recommend a twin loop design. Mugen and Hitech both make one but are extremly expensive. i think this "copy" is just as good. it's made by Konig wheels and it's called the Mozart Evolution.

it's fully stainless steel and the pipeing is 2.5" all around. i dont know if it will fit a civic HB but it could probably be made to fit.

I really don't think that cops go by the noise from exhuast (unless it's ubnoxiously loud). I think they look for exhaust more so. If they see a shiney exhust with a big tip, regardless if it's quiet or not, they will pull you over and try and give you a ticket for it. I got busted for my Greddy exhaust (fairly quiet) and I saw the cop at an intersection so I purposely drove so that my exhust was no louder then any stock exhust would sound. I still got busted. I say go with something like a magnflow muffler or the e.s. tuning one. The e.s. tuning one is shiney but the tip is small and it's not too flashy.

i was thinking of painting my Greddy's canistor portion w/ a matte/flat black hi temp paint... i think havng a shiny exhaust also plays a role in getting pulled over because i KNOW my Greddy Evo is not THAT loud.. yet i've been pulled over a few times...

the cops dont care about that 95 db s@#t in the vehicle code
i used to have a 50 state street legal exhaust
most cops dont bother writin exhaust tickets anymore unles they are ****** b/c almost every compact car hs some kinda exhaust now...
but when i got my ticket and told the cop it was a c.a.r.b approved exhaust
he didnt give a fizzey
he asked '' did it come from the factory like that son?''
and when i said'' no...sir...officer sir...""
his reply was ...'' then i can write you a ticket for it''
even when i showed appropriate documentation to get it signed off...the guy wouldnt do it because its an upgrade to the vehicle
and there is some loophole for cops that they can get away with writing tickets for anything non factory
i dont care if i had a copy of the bill govoner davis signed in my glove compartment ... still would have got a ticket. cause fact of the matter is
in ca no matter wherre you live ... fines from tickets generate revenue for your city
so you might as well paint all your cars green cause when they see ya commin....its easy money
and it costs more in time and trouble to try and fight it in court than it worth anyway....

Cops can do anything they want. You can show them everything to prove it's legal, but if they feel like it, they'll give you a ticket.

You can be going 30mph, and a cop can pull you over and say you're doing 70mph and give you a ticket. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do. Some cops are cool, some aren't.

As for your exhaust, yeah, I'd get maybe the Apexi WS. I just got that and it's sitting in my room now. I hear it's just like stock. It's real shiny though.

Aren't the Comptech and ITR exhaust more expensive than the WS? I think it is....I got mine for $400 shipped.

It might suck for all the laws they have, but they get all the good performance shops. The East Coast sucks when it comes time to performance shops at a decent price. Don't even mention NOPI.

There was a discussion about the top 5 quietest exhaust no long ago.
The top 5 included the following, not in any particular order:

ITR
Apexi WS
RS*R
Mugen Twinloop
Comptech

There were some others mentioned but the majority seemed to agree on the five above.

got the stainless rs-r. Live in Irvine and when a cop pulled me over a month ago, all he could do was give me a lame fix it ticket for my plastic cover that i have over my license plate that i use to keep it clean. in hawaii, same thing happened to me on my hachi and it was 55 bucks. I love cali's 10 dolla fix it tickets. hahaha
