So yeah, in just a tad over 2 hours i went from a tame stock cammed type-r motor, to a beast whose fury was unleashed by the toda racing gods. they're not tuned yet, right now i've got the intake advanced moderately, exhaust stock. but there's deeeefinitely some midrange there. hope to get it on the dyno at the Richmond meet this weekend!

What Spec. Hope its the A's. Cause your not gonna have much fun with the B's on a stock valvetrain, and I don't think you changed out the springs and cams in the parking lot in two hours. TODA Congratulations! Make sure you post your dyno chart.

 

They're B's, and yes, on stock valvetrain. talked to Jack Harris, and ITR009, Jack ran on stock valve train for quite a while, and ITR009 still is, no problems as long as you keep the stock limit.

How's you idle with those spec Bs and the stock valve train?

 

All depends on state of tune. I'm running "emissions" tune right now (had to pass sniffer), and you'd never guess I had anything but stock cams, until I roll your ***.

Fully tuned, idle is nice and lumpy. Stable at around 1100 cold, 750 hot, lublublub all day long

 

How do the cams feel over stock?, what other mods do you have?, what are your cam gear settings

 

Feel great, tons of midrange. cam gears, i'm not toooo sure on the settings.i'm pretty sure it's +5 on the toda gear (so +2.5 on any other gear) on the intake side, 0 on the exh gear. other mods include:

aem cai
jdm 4-1
carsound cat
spoon n1 exh

 

Does it sound alot differant? haha what a dumb question but I am wondering if out of VTEC the car sounds like it has Bigger *****?

 

do you have to have some kind of aftermarket cam gears to use aftermarket cams?

 

not dumb at all, it definitely sounds like a different beast, gurgly, vtec is MUCH more pronounced...

I see the stock tach go to ~9500 on the stock valvetrain w/my Mugen ECU.
Even managed to hit the limiter (~ 9100 actual) once in third @ VIR. ... knock on wood!
