Water pump bad???

Water pump bad???
I noticed my bike was leaking coolant this morning, so I had to drive to work 
I get home this afternoon and take a look and it looks as if it is coming from a hole in the bottom of the water pump. What is the hole for? Did something fallout and now that is why it is leaking, or do I need a new pump? Where can I get one, local store wants $150 and they'd have to order it so I was hoping to find one online.

edit: It's for a '94 CBR600F2 if it matters
