PLX says "Rich" when out of the car
I installed my turbo setup last weekend, I was running a basemap I made just to get me home running an open wastegate. It said I was running rich.
Well, the car has been sitting for about a week, other than when I go out to turn it over to get my basemap to lean out a little.
Today I put the ignition to ON and let the plx warm up for about a minute. It went from the standard readout of 14.67-14.7, and then slowly dropped to 10 and then read "Rich". The car wasn't running.
So I pulled out the O2 sensor, wiped it off with a towel, and laid it on a towel in the engine bay. I turned the car back to ON, let it warm up, and again it went from 14.67 to "Rich" in 45 seconds.
I left the IGN in the ON position for 5 minutes hoping it would burn off the gas or whatever is making it read "Rich".
I've read some threads and they say not to use carb cleaner (glad I couldn't find mine) and to get a new one. This sensor has about 30 miles on it. Once I lean out my basemap can I just put the O2 back into the bung and let teh car idle to burn off the carbon/gas buildup or is my brand new O2 already Fubared?
Thanks
Nick

ive had a brand new bosch sensor take a dump on me.
before replacing it... make sure your wires havent come out of the connector harness....
the only bad thing about plx, their connector harness is weaksauce....

how do they calibrate it then...most widebands i know off use free-air as a basis to calibrate the sensor....

The thing is, before I actually put the sensor in the bung I turned the IGN to ON and it gave a "LEAN" reading, so I knew it was working.
After I let it warm up for a few seconds, if I rev the car up the AFR's will bounce around a little bit, but if I let it go to idle it'll say "Rich", so I just figured it was running rich at idle.
I think I'm just going to lean out my basemap at idle and let it burn off the ish.
edit: I'm sure the sensor was working well, its just that I was running a rich basemap, <10.0:1 AFR just to get me home, and I think mabe i've got a lot of gas somewhere on the sensor.

No, I just pulled the stock O2 and soddered in the connection to the ECU for the wideband input. The turbo has a bung right next to where the exhaust gas is coming out, I'm wondering if I'm going to have to plug that hole and put the O2 down by the downpipe to keep some of the debis from building up on it.
Honestly I don't even know what a purge valve is.
