Its a small world in the racing community...
So I'm talking to an old coworker of mine about the road racing people and events hes dealt with in the San Luis Obispo, Ca area. He tells me about how its hard to participate in this sport unless you have yourself a richy sugar dady to pick up all the bills like Jeff Owen has Don Wilson.
From that topic he tells me about how he knows another person that has his very own Don Wilson but the car that he races is a Nissan Sentra. He tells me that the guy has to do all the work on the car and in return, they both (owner and wrench)get to drive it. Well, unfortunately one day up in Infineon he wrecks the car. "He got tangled up with some Honda" my friend says.
A couple days ago I was talking to Hope about a newbie from Arizona finally joining a WCHC. His first event we know of and he has a mishap with a Sentra.
I put the puzzle together with the Sentra my friend was talking about and the newbie CRX HC driver from Arizona. What luck for both of these guys huh? I guess it was a good thing the newbie tango'd a "Wilson" funded driver.
I remember when I got tangled up with a full CF body Porsche Super Unlimited car at Big Willow. He graciously picked up the $2400 bill of damage to my car.
Thank goodness for people with money heh.

Thanks Edo for the pic

I really don't understand what you're getting at here. As far as I know, the only person who is paying for my car is me and I don't really think that there was anything lucky at all about the entire incident.

The Sentra driver has an arrangement with the car owner. He can't afford to own a car and race so he made an arrangement with the car owner to wrench and take care of the car and have 1 day out of the weekend to race it. The owner race 1 day and the "wrencher" race 1 day.
I think it is a fair deal! And this is far from a sugar daddy situation.
As far as picking up the tab, I don't think he was at fault in this situation. He was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Unfortunately, this is a lesson as racers have discovered all to often both on the track and off.

wow, look what I brought about...MrB!
I don't get who would be my SUGAR DADDY? I partook of the socalled sweet sweet racing sugar and well its really was pretty sour.
I'll spend my own sugar once again and still have a decent car. Don't hate on the engineering B

ah theres the guy! yeah all that comment meant was that the Sentra will probably be back on the track since there is funding there. How is your car coming along? Nothing two full size trucks going in the opposite direction with a couple of chains attached to your car can fix right? Sorry.

John Lindsey and Tom Paule told me that a SE-R chassis was already secured even before the Infineon race weekend was over. The only Honda guys I know that could do that are Tyson or Mr. B. Then again, Nissans are throwaways anyway, right?

Haha. Nah, I think I'm just gonna throw a fresh coat of wax on it and call it good.
Unfortunately, my car isn't coming along at all. It's toast. The prognosis is bent frame, bent roll cage, broken suspension, shattered motor mount, cracked block.
It's hard to say how soon I'll make it back out, but finances are definitely the limiting factor. My parents really want to help me, so I might make it out sooner if my pride doesn't get in the way.
They happened to be there that weekend (first time they were going to see me race) and I think they were pretty shaken up. Not so much by the crash, but by the disappointment that I couldn't even hide no matter how hard I tried. So, I guess my sugar daddy could end up being my real daddy. However, as much as I still really want to race, I don't like the idea of having my parents pay for my mistake, so I'm kind of torn.

Ricers haven't plifered the Nissan ranks for straight, rust-free chassis like the Honda community has.
Andy - who also is reasonably sure there is no difference between an E chassis and a SE-R chassis as far as a race car is concerned...

i specialize in engines, trannies, and junkyard parts. for chassis parts, you must go to the boneyardo.
say, did somebody say theyre interested in a mugen diff for a L3 tranny?
i think my CLEAN tranny with PERFECT synchros is already spoken for, right johnny mac?

Damn Bota, why you gotta be such a virtual *** online?
Anyway, since my name got dragged in there I just want to say that I feel really bad for both parties in the crash. Having a totaled CRX of my own collecting dust, I can relate. It sucks.
Talk about small world though. The wrecked SE-R is the same car that kept me from passing you on the last lap after you got together with that Porsche.

Virtual ***! Not an Actual *** but a Virtual one haha. Thats a perfect description for me! I'm taking it and running with it LOL.
Scott, you can combine Ellsworths wrecked chassis and yours to make a running chassis!
name dropping stirs things up when the excitement is low

Heh. Maybe if we hadn't both crashed the passenger side.
If I'm thinking of the right car, then you mean the white CRX who met the tires in turn 10 during the Sunday race. I didn't look extensively at that car, but from what I did see, the cage didn't even look touched. I'd be pretty surprised if that car was totalled, cause it mostly looked like sheet metal damage.
