Default GSR dies when unplugging iacv ?

I have a 98 gsr and im just trying to " set the base " on the idle... and when I unplug the iacv when running it just dies instantly... do I need to give throttle to compensate for the loss of rpm when the iacv is disconnected? and also on a 98 gsr is the small gold screw on the throttle body above the intake tube still the idle screw and left increases idle correct?

I think you're supposed to jumper the SCS connector? Make sure it's warmed up completely & all electrical stuff is turned off.

Give it some throttle to keep from stalling, & turn the adjusting screw out some for a higher rpm. You'll have to close it gently while you adjust the screw. It's easier to do if you start out high & carefully adjust it down.

It will run when I give it some throttle, but no matter how much I move the screw on the TB out the idle never changes ... The reason I was confused about the car dying when the iacv gets disconnected is because I read a b18c idle adjustment article and it said to just remove the iacv plug while the car was running and it should only drop about 100 rpm's ? I guess the question is now why won't the idle change with that screw?

Mine was '95 so ????

It dropped more than 100, you had to drop it carefully so it wouldn't stall. It was supposed to be 450 rpm or something like that, with the IACV unplugged. They eliminated the FITV & included that function into the IACV for yours, so I don't know what changed with the procedure.
