trade base rsx for type-r?
how many of you would trade a 2004 base model rsx for an integra type-r (not a dc5 type-r, you nut)?
i'm so disappointed with the base rsx that i want to get rid of it. throughout my high school years, i was very accustomed to the pre-generation integras, before the dc5 made it's fabulous appearance. don't get me wrong, i love the styling and luxury of the dc5. it's just the performance of the base model i do not like.
i've been considering trading in my base rsx for a type-s for several months, but i just came upon the thought of owning a type-r, which was a dream in my high school years. if i sell my car, i would be able to afford a type-r.
i love the pre-generation integras because of the raw feeling. i'm not a big fan of luxury and i don't need the luxury of the dc5.
when i really think hard enough, i think i love stock power and warranties.

i guess a more appropriate question is:
type s or type r?

What an original question
The itr is a nice car. BUT we all know the s has more potential, cheaper insurance, less theft ( you should know about theft if you live in union city), leather interior, a sunroof, less noise on the highway, some warranty left, more color choices, clean title (more than likely), etc. I could go on for days.
I see R's for sale for about 14K with salvage titles

Just out of curiousity is your base a 5spd or an auto? If its an auto then i dont blame you. 5spd with i/h/e and reflash or k100 is still a fun and decently (own opinion) quick car. Im happy with mine. But we all have different needs. For some it takes a bit more umph to put a smile on their face.
Between your two, I would pick up a Type S. I value luxery. Plus with a type R i would always be trippin about it gettin stolen. Not to mention insurance will rape you.

52k miles? i must've been sleepy.
well, i should just be smart about it and trade for a type-s.
by the way, do any of you think it's possible to tune a k20a3 with a k20a2 head (naturally aspirated, not forced induction) to reach 300whp?

I own both a 2003 RSX Type S and a 98 Integra R. It is impossible to keep the R has a daily only driver. you are worried and paranoid about it getting stolen all the time. I actually enjoy the Type S more right now but its too hard to get rid of the R because I think if I advertise it for sale somone posing as a buyer will carjack me.
i was 90% close to getting a type r. i even stockpiled a year's worth of b18c5/itr parts... my friend got his type r stolen, and my friend with a gsr swapped del sol had his del sol stolen as well. lets just say, i didnt want to risk it. and an itr isnt worth getting a beater... imo. so i got a 2005 type s... and i love it!

hrmm, u live in california. when u get the R, start shopping for a new car.
im serious too.
i laughed when i read the 300whp. it's going to take too much work. look at stroking it and boring it out. also, you are going to need 13.5+compression. full port n polish, free flowing cams, a complete head and bottom end rebuild, 100 octane gas...etc.
good luck.

i've been thinking about going with high compression, but how often would i need to rebuild my motor? i have very little knowledge of running a high compression motor.
i'll be researching more on it, but feel free to fill me in on the knowledge. thanks!

so basically, yes you CAN get 300whp from that motor, however its gonna take so much custom work. I mean it was done with a B20 block, they got 300whp n/a, its doable in a K20 block im sure, but again, gonna take lotta time, custom work, and $$.
