Default 300zx Turbo Mini-me Completed!

http://www.homemadeturbo.com/t3.html

Finished this project up last nite.. using a 300zx Turbo and a STD manifold.. this is the first non-dsm turbo I have used.. It pulls pretty damn good too.. Stock wastegate actuator is set right at 5.5psi..

alot of pics.. so be patient..

nice work as usual Abaz. I like the fact that you used a 300 ZX turbo cause I can maybe find one around here.

nice job jeff how hard was it to weld the mild steel downpipe to the turbo housing. i'm trying to piece together parts for my ls/vtec. i dunno if you saw the article in HCI magazine but they made a DIY turbo and they used a t-3 w/internal wastegate out of a rustang svo, so i went to the junkyard and got one for 100cdn, needs rebuild though... and the exhaust outlet points right at the rad. i was told that welding steel to cast was a pain, but how was it?

Indeed it is.. Unless the cast is steel/cast its almost impossible to get the weld to stick.. as you can see their is a large amount of weld on the downpipe we made.. I will let you know if it breaks

Btw, I did read that article.. kinda cool, made some pretty amazing #'s for a cheap setup like that. The intercooler setup was a bit gay though.

yah, i thought that there intercooler setup was dumb too, they ended up using a spearco or something, can't remember. i think that they got away with the exhaust pointing like that cause they were using a del sol and the rad doesn't extend over as far as the early civic ones. anyway, i'm a big fan of the diy turbo setups, and your site kicks ***. so keep everyone updated and i hope it works for you....oh yah, you should bring back the b16a turbo project

you should bring back the b16a turbo project
B16a project is back in effect... We are going to try and make a custom manifold ourselves, and we already have another Zdyne Gold SECU unit on the way.
This time it should work...

Looks nice. Congrats on getting it all setup. It really amazes me what all you have done with engines and turbos. Nice job. I'd be intrested to see what it runs in the 1/4 mile. If you test it out let us know how it goes.

Looks like you're single-handedly keeping Zdyne in business.

I have a D16Z6 Turbo CRX. I getted it to the fullest. t25 turbo custom std manifold, custom plumbing, ic, oil cooler, custom downpipe. with stock injectors and fuel system and completely stock block i run 5-7 pounds all day on 94 octane plug octanebooster. its been runnning great for 4 months and still strong as ever, now today i cheaped out and decideded to try a cold start 5th injector from a saab or vw. i used the iggger saaab cold start and tapped it into my intake manifold, tapped into a fuel injector, and ran the fuel lines. the injector is ralayed to activate when a custom pull switch is activated under boost from the wastegate. i ran 10psi all day todat wit no problems. pretty scary thinkin about my engine dying but it's still fine. let me know what you guys run on turbo setups
