Just bought a del sol si for swap and parts, it has a d16z6 but not sure what tranny it is. The guy I bought it from said it was not the original trans. The number tag is missing from the front near the block id number, but there is another tag near the front/lower mount that says F4Y P20 on it. Does anyone know what trans it is, or can you tell me how to figure it out?

HMMM I've never seen a P20 but there is a S20, S21, Y21, and S24A

S20= 5-spd for D15B7, D16Z6 engines

S21, Y21= 5-spd for B16A3 engines

S24A= 4-spd automatic trannys

BTW on tranny it should say something like:

S20-2000001= tranny type- Serial number

 

p20 is the same as an Ex or Si trans, to be sure look at the stamp above the filler plug it will be P20-A000 or P20B000 you want the one that says P20-A000.

Also are you interested in selling some of the parts?

You're not talking about the B16 SI trans, right? because that is waaaay different that an EX trans.

B series del sol wasnt an SI, oddly enough. why it was called del-sol vtec, idk.

yes^^ and it could be a sohc SI as in the SI eg with a d16z6
