i just installed it. the only problem is the shift linkage hits my exhaust a little bit when its in 5th gear. is that ok? its stock exhaust but when i get new one, will it be ok?

 

what's the aftermarket shifter? jeez!!

 

idk i got it from some kid for free. said it was for a honda. it just hits the pipe not rubb on it. only when i move it to goto 5th. but when its in, its fine

 

the short shifters position of the ball and the end point where you put the bolt in might be a little longer and the linkage is sitting a little bit low, find a short throw shifter made for your setup and maybe that'll solve you're problem. If you get a new exhaust it'll be the same and keep tapping your exhaust.

 

can i live with it tapping a little tho? its honestly not that bad

 

i had a civic that i put a shifter on and it done the same thing. Is the part of the shift linkage that is behind the shifter, it should be about two inches long. I just cut of the end of it. thats if that is the part that is hitting it.

I am not sure about how to fix the tapping but as far as getting another exhaust I dont *think* this would make it any better. Chances are the new exhaust will be larger diameter piping and that would create more of a problem. Of course it all depends on the specifics of how things line up etc etc. Just somehting to think about.

 

well its like the shift linkage hitting the piping. but its not much. i mean it doesnt like rub on it u know?

 

Most aftermarket short shifters do hit the exhaust.

 

we it can be fixed with new exhaust. I worked as a welder in a shop before and the welder can bend the pipe with a machine to easily fixed that problem. trust me on this. BUT also make sure the shifter is made for your car. IF not then get a new one. A decent one will cost you 40 bucks at kragen and it works good
