cel
sup everyone, this is actually my first post and dont really have access to post anywhere else...anyways, i have a ej8, built d16y8, edelbrock turbo kit, and im havin management problems. everytime i slow down or idle, my cel comes on...i know why its coming on, the edelbrock turbo link piggyback unit doesnt have maps or learning capabilities to handle a modified y8, it was designed for a stock y8 with just the kit...question is, if i just keep resetting ecu to get rid of the cel for the time being until i get a stand-alone, will this harm the engine, and how long can i go before it being a real problem? thank you for your time.

If you changed the thread title to something a little more inviting you'll yield better results.
Like: "SOHC trouble with Edelbrock" or "turbo D trouble" something to that effect.
And no I can't answer your question, but at least I bumped the thread
.

first off.....you have no clue....
second...what is the CEL?
it's probably map....but we can't help you till you tell us what the code is
and you will keep throwing the code until you fix the problem!!

chad...what do i not have a clue about? the part about the turbo link? after speaking with edelbrock's tech dept for an hour, thats what they told me...and i havent pulled the code yet, but im pretty sure its not map, i had iacv and tps problems got those all fixed...could i throw the code for map sensor with a missing link installed?
just pulled it...took it to my friends shop, it was the iacv code, he fixed it for the most part...this is a constant problem, i think the turbo link is havin trouble wit my setup and doesnt have a self learn capability so its throwin the codes...
ideas? thoughts? is it time for stand alone?

I want to ask, where are you getting all this information from about the "turbo link not having self-learn capabilities so that's the reason why I'm throwin a code" stuff?

edelbrock tech people...i was talkin to one of their techs for about an hour after the cel first came on, cus i had the problem when i first put the kit on, and it was due to a faulty turbo link so they exchanged it for me, all was good until last week, so i got a hold of a tech and we were trying to figure out what was wrong, and he was tellin me about the kit and turbo link and everything i said is everything he came up with after both of us being stumped for hella long
