do it right the first time. the 300 or whatever u spent on the gc's could of had been towards the tein's u wanted, even though i'd go with gc with custom rates and koni yellows, but to each his own.
talk to grandpa (George Knighton) btw about ep3 suspension because if you do it wrong you can really mess things up. i read one of his posts about the ep3 suspension you should really contact him.
Suspension is base for everything, do it right the first time. Just ride it high until you can afford Mugen or Tein basic. Not only are you saving money but you'll be happier with the decision. I had the same thought, but now I'm glad I waited and bought Tein Basic.

really depends on the roads you drive on.
use to be on skunk2 "coilovers" a while back. was dropped 3"+...shocks were fine for a really long time.

If you are driving on perfect roads all of the time, your shocks should be fine...but unfortunately, most roads are far from perfect.
Using high rate GC's on stock shocks is going to seriously wear out your dampeners. The stock shocks are underdampened for any spring rates over say....30% over stock.
With the car underdampened, the car will bounce or float too much over bumps. The car may actually handle even worse than stock, since the springs will continue transfering weight and energy back and forth, since the shocks arent strong enough to stop the spring.
Spend the bucks and get it done right the first time. Tanabe SOC Type II's are the way to go if you're on a budget.
Handling and performance is awesome, and price is right. Tein basics make too much noise
