What would you do with my audio situation, have system in my car im selling, but need something in m
Ok, give me your feedback on this stuff...
I have a 94 gsr that I'm going to sell one of these days, its got:
Kenwood KDC-X815 cd player
Polk 6.5" components
Sony 2 channel amp on the components (70x2)
1 12" kicker comp sub in a small sealed box
MTX Thunder 280 amp on the sub (280x1)
I have my new car, 99 accord coupe ex v6 and the head unit is really getting on my nerves. It only plays like 5% of my CDRs and takes forever to go between tracks, etc, etc.
I dont have the stock headunit for my Integra, however, I do have the stock front and rear speakers. I also have the components securely mounted in the doors, amps mounted under the seats and I replaced all of the speaker wire with nice 12awg wire and I have 4awg power/ground ran through the car with fused power/ground blocks under the seats.
Time is money and I was planning on leaving the components and the amp powering them in the integra. I was planning on removing the sub and the amp powering it, it'll only take me 5 minutes to yank the seat out and unplug the wires. I was going to leave all the wires, blocks, etc., etc., in there.
Here's my dilemma though... I have several choices.
1 - Leave the kenwood headunit in the teg, Buy a new headunit for my Accord (probably the kenwood mp3 deck)
2 - Remove the kenwood headunit from my teg and put it in the Accord, Buy a cheap headunit to put in the teg
3 - Remove the kenwood headunit from my teg and sell it on Ebay, Buy a cheap headunit for the teg and Buy a new kenwood mp3 deck for my accord.
I was leaning towards buying a cheap deck to through in the teg, but, I need something with RCA outs and it seems its gonna cost me like $150 for something like that. I also dont know how well these MP3 decks really work, are they sweeeeeet? I hate to dump another $400-$450 on a nice deck when my deck works really sweet... it just doesn't have mp3 capability.. doh.
If you say buy a cheap deck for the teg, what should I buy? All I need is something decent with RCA outs.

Ok, heres what I would do. Remember that I'm a student, therefore am cheap, but willing to part with some things.
Since you have stock front and rear speakers, and that the front set for the GSR is a component set anyways, switch them up and keep those nice polks for your new accord. Take the two channel amp that powers them out as well.
My reasoning: No one that's not into car audio is going to pay you what those speakers are worth when the 6 speaker stock system is already "amazing" to most buyers..
To speed up time, you can cut the 12awg wire going to the amp, and rewire it up to the deck fairly easily, if you don't have time to yank the rca's seeing as the dash is open, leave them there with the blocks and point them out to the person buying it "I had them installed so that in the future if I required more power for my speakers, the option is always available" this will show that there is availability for an expansion in the stereo system if the buyer wishes and he thinks he just saved some nice cash and labour time.
I honestly don't know anything about your deck, but if it's less than $175 cost, then leave it in and sell it as a "bonus" People appreciate and can see the difference in a new stereo, and most people even think that a new stereo = much better sound alone....the buyer will appreciate this more than a set of polk components.
IF you really want your deck, and it's work more than $175 plus happiness, then go on ebay and bid on this or something similar ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...095498&r=0&t=0
It's the stock cd player from acura
everyone wants to get rid of one, and if need be, I'll call up my friend and get him to sell you his! (IM me btw if you need to do this)
The sub and amp definetly take out, possibly offer the buyer if he seems interested. An amp and sub will either be not appreciated, or even worse, looked down upon, plus this way you have something for the accord.
Looking over my post I just realized I'm trying to convince you to remove everything, or everything but the head unit....(heh, sorry if i made things worse!)
BUT if you still want a SWEET *** mp3 deck, look at the Pioneer DEH-7400MP, lots of features (like woah..) good sound, built in equalizer, lots of outputs etc..
See more reviews of mp3 decks at http://www.sounddomain.com before you buy, some of the older mp3 decks take a while to load up the song (little delay), lack features (like EASY directory searching) or don't show full ID3 tags and instead show a cutoff 8.3 name (HITHER~1.mp3 rather than Hi There)
If you still want to keep your components in...and want to buy your own deck after all this, look into an older kenwood or Alpine on ebay, they've been around for a long time, have rca outs usually for rear (minimum) and are cheap!
Hope all this has helped!

Will a factory Acura CD player from a newer Integra plug right in?
If so, and I can pick one up for $50, I'll definately go that route.
I'll yank out my components, amps, headunit, and wiring and put the stock speakers back in powered by a factory cd player.

i would take out the headunit from the teg and put it in the accord ...then replace the teg unit with some other head unit...i got a kenwood cd player w/rca outs in my civic for $127.00 at circuit city...and it plays all the cdr's i've ever owned
