Instead of messing with the ball joints, I just drop the lower control arms and pry the axles out from the tranny. The helms suggests a big A screw driver for the passenger's side.

You have to knock em loose. Use WD 40 also. Do NOT use a pickle fork!

I bought a little ball joint removal tool at the local tool shop for like 15 bux.. problem solved. If I remember, I'll post a pic of it.

I put some pressure on the arm with a hydraulic jack and then I hit the joint with a hammer until it broke loose. It took a couple hits but that was it. Pretty easy if you ask me.

I wedge a breaker bar in between the LCA and the bottom of the knuckle right behind the balljoint, then I hit the little thing on next to the balljoint while someone stands on the breaker. That will sometimes get them. I had one that we smacked on for about 30 minutes, soaked over night in PB and WD 40, then smacked on again for about 40 min, and it never came apart. I put a pickling fork in, and in 3 hits it popped. I say try not using the fork, and if it doesn't work, use the fork (luke). The worst case is that it ripps the boot. Boots are easy to replace.

You can get a ball joint puller from autozone for $10. Dont mess up the joints with a breaker bar. Do it the right way. Remember to leave the nut on the bolt while you pop it out or the threads will get jacked up and you'll never get the nut back on.

Just for the record. The breaker bar doesn't touch the balljoint. All you are doing is putting pressure between the knuckle and LCA so that there is more incentive for the joint to come apart. Then you wack on the side nub thing where honda intended you to whack and it pops apart. No $10. No damaged joint. No trip to autozone.

I agree though. If you have the time and money, a puller would probably be the safe bet.

maybe im just retarded but ive never messed with the balljoints..when youre all done dont you need to press it back into place, or can you get away with c-clamping it, or just tightening back up the castle nut?

It seems like everyone has their own ways in doing things. Especially when it comes to working on cars. Mechanics/techs seem to be very opinionated when it comes to their methods of doing things. They always think that their way is " the best " and everyone else is doing it " wrong ."There are plenty of methods to go about things and this post proves it. I usually don't post anything because A: I either already now the answer or B: I can find the answer by reading what others post. Lets not talk down on people just because they might do things differently. Out of all the forums I have found on the net this seems to be the most technical so far. It also has the most useless garbage of people flaming each other back and fourth. Lets keep it real and help each other out, afterall we are all honda/acura fans here.

?? isnt that a flame? Who said you have to take anyones advice? Fact is if you dont want to take a chance fvucking up your car just do it the right way. In end you will spend a few dollars on special tools that will save you hundreds in repairs from stupid mistakes. Honda recommends you use a ball joint puller. The recommend that for a reason. Thats all im saying.
