i can hear a wierd sound coming out of my tranny. it sounds like if i had something scraping on my brake rotor but it coming from the tranny. the sound is there when the car is parked or in moving. the scraping sound get seems to spin faster if i rev the car up or if its in moving. sometimes when i go to put the car into 5th gear, it will not go in. what can this be? how can i tell if its the clutch? i had my clutch replaced about 1.5 years ago. and how do i know if its the tranny? how much does a trany cost to rebuild or buy? thanks!!
i just had my tranny rebuilt after a couple of bearings inside the tranny went.. i was surprised cause its got only 52k miles (not THAT many)... if the noise goes away when you push the clutch pedal in, then its prolly the throwout bearing or other bearings in the tranny.. i'll get the receipt from honda to find out what they were called exactly, but i had the same symptoms... wouldnt go into 1st or 5th at random, and the faint grinding noise from the tranny that went away when i put the clutch pedal in

ok..i checked everything. i noticed that i have play on the passenger's side axle. the axle that is closest to the tranny seems to be able to wiggle a bit, up and down and side to side. after i took it for a spin..i also noticed that there maybe tranny fluid dripping from the spot where the axle connects to the tranny. and there was a a little space between the tranny and the axle so i pushed the axle back in and that was when i noticed the movement. can anyone tell me what going on here? thanks!!

hmm...have you considered the brake pads, my stockers did this when they went out, its was a weird scraping that increased in rate as I went faster. It was just the metal hanger thing on the brake pad rubbing on the rotor which was warped a little, so it made the on/off scrapping sound.
