Default Blown head gasket- Should I lower the compression when I replace it?

I have a b18c1 at 10 psi and hondata with 300whp. I blew my headgasket yesterday and will be replacing it myself in a few weeks. I am going to get arp head studs. What I want to know is should I get the OEM or Cometic head gasket? And should I buy a thicker hg to lower my compression? Will I need to retune my ECU after that change? Thanks

Leave it stock, and find a better tuner.

Either or doesnt hurt to do. Make sure when you head gasket blew that it didnt overheat or warp your head. But im sure it didnt. Find out your cause for the blown gasket cause 300whp on GSR shouldnt be happening.

*shameless plug -- we're having sales on Golden Eagle, Cometic, ARP combos'

I have been driving it at 7 psi with a fmu for a year and then another year and 2 months at 10psi with Hondata. I just figured it was getting worn out????

Head gaskets dont really "wear out"

Either temps got hot or your head lifted

Plus depending where your from and right now other than Alaska, its pretty hot around.

It has never overheated but the weather has been close to 100 in the past two months. By worn out I meant that the head bolts are stretching.

IMO, not necessary. You can always run a conservative tune.

My headgasket went cuz I overheated the engine at the track. Corrected the problem with a better radiator. Replaced my gasket with oem, added some arp studs and it's been runnin' strong since.

No reason to lower the compression if the motor is running ok with no detonation, and if you have no plans to turn up the boost. OEM

OK, I will be keeping the factory 10:1 c/r but which brand should I use, the OEM or Cometic?

fyi,
incase no one mentioned it,
you would have to retune if you change your compression

I only use aftermarket headgaskets if I am raising/lowering the compression, or changing the bore size...

A blown headgasket is a damn good sign that the motor is detonating and he just can't hear it though.
