How to break into and steal an Integra?
What are the possible ways (other than flatbedding the car out of your driveway) that thieves are taking our cars away? I know that in the past it was taboo to even discuss the subject for fear of "educating" potential theives on how to break into our cars. Obviously that didn't work and only created more victims like me, ITRbroham, and 98TypeR to name a few.
I saw from various theft recovery pics that thieves can cut into the front bumper cover and pop the hood. So hood locks would have been helpful. Wish I would have known that before (even though they didn't do that to mine). But unfortunately this information was surpressed, to the misfortune of at least two of our recent victims. Also, you can simply pry the window tab up and actually bend the window several inches out -- enough room to stick your arm down and unlock the door. Wish I would have known this because that's how I think they got into mine. Not sure how to prevent that one though. Any ideas?

Cut the front near emblem to access hood latch.
Pull out LF wheel well liner (front of wheel) to access hood latch cable.
Pull out LF wheel well liner (behind wheel) to access Door lock wires.
Slim Jim behind window to access power lock switch.

RS door handles have no power door lock. Or just unplug the wire harness going to it..Locks still work, you will just have to reach over to unlock passenger side.
Re-locate hood latch cable.

Ok so basically it's pretty damn easy to get in. That's scary. Is there anybody who offers reprogrammed ECU's (kinda like Todd Day from the DSM camp) who can put in special code into the ECU that would prevent the car from starting unless you press the clutch pedal three times or have the A/C turned on or something like that?

On 94-01 integras and 92-00 civics you can actually reach through the grill and pull the hood latch wire and the hood just pops right open, and NO! I AM NOT A THEIF!

No flames yet from the late-night crew.... But I think it might be a good idea to avoid helping any dishonest people lurking on these boars.
they already now this stuff, we see it happen 2 times a month.. And if they dont know, they will ask their "friends" in the know.
I think the more we realize our weak spots, the better we are prepared to deal with them. We need to know what they know to try to prevent it.

i just stick the key into the ignition and it starts right up. i steal my car to go to work everyday from my garage. my garage is sad and wishes the R could keep him company all those lonely cold nights.
Not when it means revealing some protection that would otherwise prevent a thief from taking it or taking it easily.
There have been recent disputes and flames on this very topic.

No, I don't want to create either. The more we mention them here, the better we prepare them. Yes, it's true if a thief wants your car bad enough he will have it, and that professional thieves already know about most all of the ****. But keep in mind that not everyone here is a professional thief, and that one or more of these protection measures will slow down a car thief, and the longer it takes, the better chance you have.

alright i think all of us are scared now. i used to work for a lock smith company so hondas were the first car i learned to break into. this is what you need to do to keep the ******** out.
get alarm with 1 or more really f*cking loud sirens
get door actuators ( or however you spell it ) turn them around so they face the door locks ( rear of the car) and cut the linkage. so that only 1 inch of linkage is visable. get rubber hose and cover the rest of the remaining linkage.
disconnect power door lock wires ( ha ha i never had them gotta love the EF )
relocate the hood release cable inside the top of the engine bay
get hood pin for alarm
cut hatch cable and just use your key
get very sensitive external prox sensor
cut netrual safety switch and wire it to the kill switch or a toggle switch ( laugh all you want this is the best thing to keep your car were you left it )
replace ALL ignition under dash wires with black wires ( hehe extreme i know but what the hell )
install second column lock ( not sure how this is done but eric from FF-squad appears to have this done on his EF )
install alarm to some rediculous location under armrest or inside AC box. and tape the **** out of the wires cover in wire loom to look factory
and finally remember NO alarm on the planet will keep someone from stealing your car. the object is to make it very noticable that its being broken into. the point make the alarm go off for as long as possible and to be as loud as possible. so you can run out side and shoot the f*ckers.
happy huntin

its the switch thats on the top of the clutch pedal. you know thats why you have to push in the pedal to start the car. my sensor broke one day and i had to splice the wires to get home. i can take pics of this stuff if people want them.
