Default LS Swap.

So I'm going to swap from my D16(bad trans, dont feel like keeping the d16) to an LS. Im thinking about going with a b16 trans but I dont know for sure. any input from anyone will be gladly taken into consideration.

b16 has short gearing so on a hwy you'll be running higher RPM over your stodk d-series tranny

Great for racing tho

Check out my thread in the signature for swapping in the LS motor, if you are putting in a b18a then there are some complications but if b18b then it's a lot easier

yeah, im not worried about running higher rpm. what i was thinking is ls/vtec with a b16 trans then sell the motor and just buy a b16 and turbo it... so the trans works both ways...

if a different trans is going to suit me better though, ill definitely go with it.
i am looking for a race trans i dont ever really take the freeway anywhere i go so lower gearing wont hurt...

even though you dont go on the freeway much, you are still going to run out of gearing not too much over 100mph with that b16 trans. gsr tranny is perfect combo in my opinion.

im going more for autocross than 1/4 mile.
i dont think ill really ever go over 100mph. if i did it would be me in a hurry on the freeway...

gsr will give me like 10 maybe 20mph extra?

i have a GSR tranny on my LS and i like it. good on the freeway and short enough to go to the track and do a 15.0 in a coupe...............B16a is fun but the gearing will suck really bad on the freeway.....

I have had both. I replaced my stock LS with a B16 tranny on my integra and it made it slower. It sucks being just under 5k on the freeway. I put the LS back on before I sold the teg and I loved it. The hatch I just bought has an LS motor and tranny and they are great. My buddy has a hatch with a B16 motor and tranny and he hates the short gears too. The B16 tranny is geared short to keep the B16 motor in VTEC, if you don't have VTEC then your just wasting gas.

LS
B16

well it would be an ls/vtec...
which would be the reason in a b16 trans.
even a gsr trans would be better than an ls trans.
ls trans is more of a luxury item vs gsr or b16.

imagine driving 4.5k rpm @ 80mph on highways. that's b16 tranny for you.

i wonder if i could just rock a gsr trans and maybe change the gearing?

make 1,2,3 shorter and keep 4,5 normal...
at least then id be around 2-3k rpms at 80-85mph...

anyone know about gearing?
