Default i'm a newb, i have a question

yo guys, i'm a new guy and i have a quick question. i'm big into muscle cars, and i drive an 88 accord to help me with gas. i bought it from some douche who ripped out the power steering and a/c. I want to put the power steering back in so i can see what else i need to fix with my front end (it's pretty noisy).

anyway, i know how to use belt tensioners and everything, but without my a/c compressor, how am i going to be able to keep the belt tight? is there a seperate tensioner i can install while i'm installing my power steering pump? or should i look into picking up a compressor from the junk yard just to use it as a tensioner?

thanks in advance.

tom

The simplest way would to reinstall everything that's missing, including the A/C Compressor. If you don't call for the a/c to work (never engage the compressor clutch) it will just act like an idler pulley and only penalyze your go-fast several pounds. That way you can use to oem belts and not have to worry about re-engineering everything.

88 accord has 3 belts each with its own way to adjust tension u dont need a/c compressor to adjust tension on p/s belt to adjust p/s belt pry on it to tighten belt then tighten positioning nut 12 mm

Desert,

Don't forget to use the CAPS key where needed and what the hell man, here is smell cheque rite thar above this sqware bloc sew uwe gonna chek up yr smelling 2. ABZ. My mother really hates this stuff too, she thinks I am just lazy with my pinkies or something like that, I told her to mind her own beeswax, who does she think she is, my mother........

Newbie, you probably would be better off just buying a whole parts car cause you will probably find more stuff that was ripped out of you new ride too. Have you located the main relay to see if it has been bypassed, this is a common workaround on these types of cars.

the power steering and AC compressor have thier own belts. the alternator shares a belt with the water pump.

i have all of the parts you'll need to reinstall power steering. i part these cars out for extra money. i have good feedback on 3geez.com which is where i sell the parts. check it out some time.

Yea, dont post here if you cant remember each sentence starts with a capital letter. And use spell check and format into a nice form letter. Proper grammar would be nice too. Lets all fight illiteracy in America. We cant let the terrorists win this one. Oh BTW, can you tell me how to change my spark plugs???

Since we are off the subject. How do you like 3geez.com? It wouldn't take much to be better than e-ripoff.com for listing. Also I am about to part a 87 accord if interested. I only need the RACK lol also everything tranny related to do a 5 sp swap into my 89.

But newbie I do have a working a/c compressor and power steering pump for your car also if interested.

Thanks for an unbiased answer. I moved to NM from SD. Now I kindof miss rain, snow. You know the things that cool it down a little. Don't get me wrong I like dirt. Just not everywhere I look. Or touch.
