what are your thoughts on this
can you put together a complete turbo setup for a dohc motor
including fuel management and tuning using quality parts for $1200
and be reliable?

sounds like to me, yall are in a dick swinging contest. both of u should quit bitching, u can do it, alot of people have, it has even been put in your face then you change the rules, lets see 1200 for a turbo kit, 1200 for a turbo kit and an engine, 1200 for a turbo kit, an engine, and a managment system. just admit it, u can peice together a "turbo kit" for 1200. are we done now?

I've been done.

I wouldn't even call this a debate or anything. Its stupid. If someone thinks its impossible to piece together a turbo kit with fuel management and tuning for under $1200, fine. People have different opinions on what a "quality" part is. I see nothing wrong with a working, used bov or wastegate, however, he might think that is "low quality". If you want to buy all your stuff for your kit brand new, at retail prices, then ok, it most likely is going to be over $1200. But if you search the H-T classifieds (and other places similar to that), and are willing to wait until you stumble over a great deal on some stuff, then you could easily piece together a decent kit for under $1200. Thats just my $.02

That's my opinion. I'm done. If you disagree, fine. Opinions are like ********, everybody has one, and they all stink.

me as well. my last comment on this topic will be that for 1200 to turbo a car from start to finish would be very hard, using quality parts, professional tuning etc. if someone can thats cool but i just think that it takes a little more time and money to build a reliable turbo car than what some others may think. like what was said in the previous thread the words cheap and turbo dont belong together unless your talking about cheapturbo.com. my .02.

In my opinion NO. It all depends on your def. of a quality part. for me a quality turbo will cost atleast 600 used(no i'm not talkin your junkyard t3 or even the honda-tech standard t3/t4). a log mani will surfice so that's another 300. wow i'm already up to 900 and i still have to get a wastegate, bov, i/c, piping, dp, chipped ecu, and a wideband. but then again i could just go on ebay and buy a brand new ssautochrome kit for that 1200 dollar price range..

Quality Turbo Kits consist of a balance of time, money, and skill.

Those with skill (fabrication wise) save alot of money.
Those with lots of money don't need skill or time.
Those with time can save thier money, and educate themselves with research.

Perception of the word "quality" is another thread alltogether. Does it mean it lasts? looks nice? Is made of jewlery? Ect.......
