91 LX Starting Issues, Wierd Ones
My 91 Accord LX (auto) has ~220K on it and has given me very little problems over the years. It is still in great shape and is not in need of any obvious repairs. On several occasions over the past month I have had the same thing happen to me: I go to start the car and the engine won't fire, like it isn't getting any spark in the engine. I look down to see the 'S' sport light blinking only short blinks with no pauses. I have turned the car off and on several times as well as disconnected the battery with no effects. The problem just seems to go away on its own sometimes after 2-3 minutes and other times after much longer. I remember seeing a detailed guide on how to check the TCU and get error codes off of it but I can't find it now. Any ideas on what this could be or any helpful advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I had a similar issue at about 150k, It was a bad ditributor...too much play the dam thing. You replaced that yet, or had any issues with the "ignitor module?" Also, I am at 221k with my '92 LX....wierd?...Mine still runs like a champ.
do not **** money away and start replacing parts before u diagnose problem,.... just cause it took a distr to fix maroon,s car does not mean it is ur problem,,,,,,
when car does not start chk to see if it is spark or fuel related..........
get a can of carb cleaner, remove tube that goes to throttle body, spray carb cleaner in throttle body if car satrts it is fuel related most likely a bad main relay,,,,,,,,,, if it is not fuel..........pull out a spark plug wire put a screwdriver in wire, ground it and crank engine see if u are getting spark if not ..could be a bad ignitor, coil ..
