Sorry guys I am just stressed because alot of **** is happening in my personal life and like I am freaking out. Also I have tried searching for my answer but got a bit impatient after the first 3 pages. My engine is y8 block with a z6 head and a y8 intake manifold and it runs great. Now my oil change has come up but I am not sure what oil to use. I wanted to try Mobil 1 but I am unsure of which weight to use. Also I can use 87 or 89 because it knocks so 91 my mechanic told me because the compression is a little higher the stock and the engine is completely rebuilt. I don't know if that plays in effect also with what kind of oil weight to use? Plz don't post any stupid ****, but just answer to the best of your knowledge and your experience.
PS: I went for an alignment and I learned alot from the guy there so I will post up what I learned.
Thanks Dave

Use 91 octane and use normal 5w30 motor oil. You don't need Mobil 1 or any other synthetic **** because your engine won't benefit from it in any noticeable capacity.

Sorry that you are going through tough times right now but you shouldn't let the oil stress you out, just go with 5w30, any oil brand would work for that engine. It's just personal preference on what brand you want to go with.

thanks guys for your answers. I am not really stressing the oil change its more because my mom sold the house and I am moving this week and I am not sure on where to go, also i am student and I am working but i wont be able to stay at my jobs when school starts because they dont want to keep ( its becasue they are cutting down) and the cash is getting lower and lower because I have to pay for school.
ok now back to topic so I will use Valvoline 5w30. I was considering using the Mobil 1 5w30.

well if your engine is a complete rebuilt, well as in pistons or such. I'd say go with regular oil. Let it breakin first before going synthetic. Oh, and don't stress out about life so much, things happen for a reason, and usually good. A majority of the time! Depends on how you look at it! Think about the big picture not the little one.

I suggest 5w30 Durablend until 75k, then 10w30 Maxlife or new Maxlife Synthetic after 75k
. My D16Z6 has 257k on it and I've been running Maxlife 10w30 for years now with no burning and very minimal leaking (way less than with conventional oil).
And don't let life kick you around. It's only what you make of it
