Need more performance out of my RSX!!! Also my introduction
Hello. Saw this site and decided to join on up.
I own a 2002 Acura RSX Type-S. This was my first car that I picked up brand new in 2002. I have always loved the look of the JDM Honda Integra type R's, so that is what I decided to do. I spent a very good amount of money on the exterior and interior when I first got it.
This is just a partial list of what has been done to the interior and exterior
JDM shift boot and shifter ****
JDM guage cluster set up, type R
Auto-Meter tach
JDM Honda steering wheel
JDM Type R seats (blue) with racing harness set (red)
Carbon Fiber Body Kit
JDM Type R spoiler
JDM Honda, Type R, and Integra emblems / logos
Complete JDM Type R body kit, including bumpers
JDM head lights, and tail lights
JDM Amber side markers
JDM Type R wheels (white)
Carbon Fiber front lip spoiler
I spent a good amount of cash on the exterior and Interior, and did 100% nothing to the motor! I was what you would call a ricer, I thought all of that crap made me fast (mental) but I was dead wrong, I was being walked by Mustang GT's, Civics SI's, etc. So I went back to work and started to save up, then one night racing a Integra, my engine made a weird noise, and white smoke came out from under the hood! What in the hell is this! Must be normal, so I tried to drive home, key word is tried. Long story short, I had blown a head gasket, and cracked the cylinder head because I continued to drive it hard that night! I learned from my mistake.
I looked into getting a new motor as soon as possible. Finally I got in touch with a friend of a friend, who was able to sell me a JDM K20 motor for my car, $4,000. Now don't go crazy, I would never pay that much for a stock motor...this is a list of everything that was claimed to have came in the motor when I picked it up...
-Hondata K Pro ECU
-AEM Fuel Rails and injectors
-JDM Type R intake / exhaust camshaft kit
-JDM Type R intake manifold
-AEM Pully set up
-Injen Cold Air Intake system
-Claimed JDM Race header? IDK about that, but it does have a header.
I put on an HKS Type S exhaust system, and left the car alone. I have been driving it like this for almost 2 years.
My problem... It needs more power! Don't get me wrong the car has potential, it wins against GT Mustangs now, murders Camaros, and humiliates Altimas all day long, however it feels like I am missing something... Anyone have any ideas on what else I could do to increase the Horse power? I want more bang, I was thinking about internals, would building up the internals really do anything? What about a head swap? gimmie some ideas. I have $5,670 and like 34 cents to spend.
I would love to stay all motor IF possible.

OK first off if you spent $4000 on a true K20A out of the ITR, CTR or AER then that is not too much money. And if it was a true K20AR, the intake and exhaust cams are not a kit, they are stock items as is the IM. AEM injectors???? Do they make injectors? Maybe I have just been out of the states too long to know otherwise, it has been 12 years. And this exmani, what does it look like? Is it a 2 piece design or a 1 piece? The only JDM exmanis on the market are Toda, MaximWorks(also make for Feels), 5Zigen(upper 4-2 inconel piping), J's Racing(upper 4-2 and 2-1 piping), Spoon (upper 4-2), TechnoProSpirits (upper 4-2 and 2-1 piping), Vision (very similar to Spoon, wouldn't be surprised if they make for Spoon), Mugen (just released). These are the ones that I can recall at the moment.
What head would you want to swap onto a K20AR? That didn't make any sense to me. As far as internals, a few different cam packages on the market, IPS, Crower and Toda all have nice kits. IPS also has some nice block options coming out or possibly out, that stroke the motor. Toda is working on a stroker 2.2 kit and I believe Crower is as well. The K is still in its infancy even though already 4 years old. What motor doesn't benefit from building up its internals? Not trying to flame you, just trying to understand where it is you are coming from here.
You just really sound as if you don't know anything about what you have.
Good luck to you on your quest for more power!!!

well i was told it had AEM fuel injectors, how can I verify this?
Also, when does this 2.2 litre stroker kit come out?

Carbon fiber body kit? when in the hell did I type that? question is why in the hell did I type that lol. I supose I could get photos at my next car club meeting, I'll get a few of my friends 240 as well, he is making it an R32 Skyline clone, he has the rear lights and front lights installed, off a skyline, as well as a the wheels and few other goodies, it's primer, still a work in progress. Looks pretty damn good.
