scott showing me a new line in 12
Hope that helped. Did you get it flat on Sunday?
I was able to get it later in the day once we got that awful push out of Ewan's car.
Scott, who busted his track hybrid cherry and did get to remember how much fun it can be to carry a passenger through turn 12.

Guess this is as good a place as any...some of you local Atlanta metro guys may have visited or heard of Balanced Performance and saw the owner of the business, Ron Delvalle, flogging his red GT2 280Z during the NASA weekend. He had a great weekend at Road Atlanta, but while he was there he got a phone call that his home was struck by lightning from the nasty storm that passed through the area. The subsequent fire quickly destroyed the home of he and his wife along with most of their personal belongings and irreplaceable personal effects. Please keep them in your thoughts.
As an aside, I don't care who you are, that's funny.

New tires = Flat.
That more open line is actually kind of painless once you get used to waiting so late to turn in.

Shhh. Don't tell everybody!
Yeah 12 is sweet. My pig hooks up pretty good at turn in, then those little wavy bumps at the apex send me drifting to the track out with the center mark on my steering wheel at about straight up. Love it!

In my car I kind of take the shortest distance as my speed is lower and I can afford to pinch things a little.
In Ewans car I had to take that w i d e line dropping the left wheels over the white line and turning in really late. Once we got the push out of tthe Hybrid, it turned in nicely and was an easy flatfoot on old 205 Toyos.
I love grabbing 5th at track out. Reminds me of my old <sniff> Integra.
I think Chad kind of liked trying that line as well
.
Scott, who reminds you that this pays dividends all the way down the front straight.

I short-shift to 5th at turn in and mat it (4.9 FD). Since it is down hill, it carries 5th pretty good. I meant to try carrying 4th all the way through 12 but I didn't. I figured I'd be bustin' the rev limiter at or before track out?
T #1 to T #7 is just wicked fast. I drop to 4th entering T #1 and carry it all the way to braking for T #7. Exit of T#5 is a little lazy, but with good entry speed and use of all the exit curbs, it pulls it ok. A fresh motor for next year should help the dead spots a little; It's down 12 - 15 hp from where it should be.
My hat's off to Parker. His first trip to Rd Atl and he didn't hit anything and cut a bunch of really good laps. If he hadn't got buried by the V8 back markers, he might have rolled a rat.

Don't bother. In my GSR I was on the limiter at track out with a 4.7 FD. If I had a really good run or a draft i'd sometimes hit the limiter before completely getting off the corner, which isn't at all pleasant.
You have more revs available, but I'd think the 4.9 would nullify that.
With Ewans stock Type R drivetrain (4.4?) I was at 8K in 4th just past the flag stand. I don't imagine there'd be enough 4th gear there with a 4.9.
