Was not a good weekend for most. Alex chen and Ryland (excuse me if the name is not spelled right) had pretty big contact. Kiwi and another S2k (dark silver) had big contact as well. Derek and Marty both blew motors on Sat from what I heard.
A VERY EXPENSIVE weekend for a lot of drivers. I do have some pics, I just need to post them up.

Damn! I saw Alex gassing up on Sunday morning and wished him well...
On Saturday, the cars were spread out and the action didn't look tense. I guess they saved it for Sunday?

Scott, for whom the 24-Hour News Cycle isn't so much a problem as the 24-Hour Honda-Tech Cycle...

Sounds like the whole field. Was there anyone left running at the finish on Sunday?

Wow, I am surprised I am the only one giving reports on the weekend!
I know Karner finished, and the other 2 Special projects cars (I think). Like I said, I showed up after the race had ended!
I will post the pics I have.

Sorry I don't have any pics of the racing action. The field was VERY close for the first couple laps. All qualified in the 1:34's, but were running 1:32's! The racing was very close on sunday or so I was told. It was also evident from the video I got to see at the track..
Sorry to those that need fixing.
I don't have a pic of the 3rd S2k because it was left parked off the left of T4 till after I left!

Wasn't Andy Sites running 1:34's with a stock motor on Toyo's 5 years ago?
Scott, who is about ready to kick somebodys *** if somebody doesn't start telling stories, posting pics and video's - no big deal!...."forgive me - I didn't mean it...I've been overexposed to gratuitousness on Honda-Tech"...Joo Bishes!

And what's that? Somebody is cooling a B-tranny?

Full report coming...
The weekend started off just great! We had I think nine entries on Saturday?
Finally I'm starting to get some consistant laptimes again after no racing for such a long time. I managed to just out qualify our #65 K-20 car but I don't think Tom has been at Willow in this Century? So he has a good excuse.
I had fuel pickup problems after 4 lap into the Race on Saturday and managed to limp home 7th?. And Tom had a small Wiring fire in the first lap after loosing a transponder. The live transponder wire caused some excitement, he came in, fixed the problem, and got going again. Phil finished 4 th. in the Buddy Club Civic
We Changed my gearbox which had been jumping out of 4 th. for Sunday and after the Sunday morning qualifying session we found a whole heap of horsepower...
At the start of the race I thought here we go... its my turn to shine for a change. I believe I had the car that would win easily? The two front running S2000's did not look as though they were going to be too much trouble? Until the new Guy - Richard Laifatt? (Sorry if I got that wrong) who started 2nd on the grid started to loose it going into turn three. With Alex in the Black S2000 trying to squeeze by on my left, and Ryland somewhere beside or behind me on my right going into the left hander and up the hill, Richard looked like he was going to come to a stop and we would all get through, but I guess he rolled forward... and I had no where to go! Tom said as he watched all this unfolding in front of him... " Kiwi's going to get another ration of **** on the internet for this... and it's not his fault!
Thanks Tom.
Fortunately the damage was a lot less than it looked.
Congratulations Tom and Phil Malgren for keeping the Special Projects cars running to the end, once again.
I hope everyone will be up and running again for Laguna Seca in October.

Just to say something on this topic. After seeing Alex's video from the incident, there really was no where for Kiwi to go. No sides taken, just stating an obvious fact from the video I got to see!

Video Schmideo - KIWI Boned him!
Total Red Mist - Extreme short term thinking...took out the other guy and took himself out. Rubbin is racin. Ain't drunk - only had a six pack.
Scott, who wasn't there, hasn't seen the video, doesn't even really know what really happened...."just tryin to help"...Discuss amongst yourselves.

Haha Scott, you are a character!
No contact initiated the S2K spin which put him in the middle of T3. When Kiwi and Alex came in 2 wide, there was no where to go. Just a "racing incident"!

I don't like being behind somebody who spins - my instamatic command of the probabilities isn't what I'd wish.
Scott, who say's KIWI knew this would happen...I just figured what the hell, let's turn the flame on now....

Red Mist! Where would we be without it?
Thanks Scott... All your help is greatly appreciated
I knew some one would want to turn the flame on...
But I thought you, as per normal, would just add more fuel as the heat came up?
Yes it was quite unfortunate that Ryland and Alex had a coming together a little later in the Race and also for Derick and Marty with their engine troubles.
Unfortunately, or Fortunately whatever way you look at it...
We had people at the event from Import Tuner Magazine doing a continuation of their up coming article on the Special Projects Team... The original focus was to be on the #65 K-20 Car driven by Tom Lepper, covering some of the trials and tribulations of using the K-20 engine. The article should be quite interesting as it will cover a lot of the mistakes and remedies found since the car has been rebuilt. Also some of the mis -conceptions people have developed about using these motors over the last two years. Thanks Derick, for screwing up that argument again!
No, seriously that was really bad luck man. I feel so bad for you.
Tom and our new Crew Chief, Brian Slames have done so much new development work, and fixed so many mistakes on the car, and it has been performing so well. It's starting to make all the crap we went through in the beginning almost worth it! Tom has been driving so well, and continues to bring it home in one piece every time!
We hope the article will give a better insight into exactly what Special Projects is trying to do for Honda Cup and Motor Sports. Hopefully all the drama this weekend won't take the focus away from Tom and the #65 too much? Anyway, they say there is no such thing as Bad InK!
We have well over a month to get ready for Laguna Seca.
Hopefully, Special Projects will be able to bring back some of your favourite drivers who have dropped off the scene lately... The "Import Legend" himself: Andy Hope will be in one of our cars soon... Yes, even Johnny Mac (Once weve kissed and made up
Were getting a Tee Shirt printed for the event! Rich Hays, Edik, and Tom Liang are all on the short list.

Thats my car
Sucks about all the carnage but like Kiwi I had no where I could go to avoid hitting Alex.
I'll have my car back together shortly, nothing catostrophically wrong with it. Fender, Wheel halfs, a-arms. Nothing that doesn't unbolt.
Looking forward to Oct @ Laguna.
