Default tranny question

Ok I just replaced my clutch and flywheel due to the fact i thought the throwout bearing was going due to the fact a whining noise could be heard when the clutch wasn't pushed in. Now the tranny is still making the same noise, would it be the bearings?

common problem.

Transmission shaft bearings on either the mainsshaft\countershaft or both.
Mine is starting with 140,000 km, starting the car at idle it's there and when you press the clutch to release the trans from the engine the noise goes away.

Throw out bearing is the opposite, it is there when you press the clutch and load it against the pressure plate.

at idle you will hear some noises ne way. u can usually hear your clutch, and then you put the pedal in and it goes away.... nothign wrong there.

if its a real bad noise your tranny might be going up.... maybe some broken teeth. I suggest you crack it open and check it out if you have the know how. Mine just went up on me and was making noises kind of like yours is now... good luck

Basically yes, it's a bearing problem. Every Honda I've owned (excluding the R) had the same problem when I obtained them. My current Honda sounds like the tranny is about to rip itself to shreds with the clutch out in neutral.

Possibly your input shaft bearing. I'd suggest observing it a bit more. If it gets louder or starts making a clicking noise, then replace it.

I would like to fix it before it starts to sound worse and I end up needing a tranny.
Does 500-550+ parts sound high to replace the bearings and syncrhos

not to hijack the thread, but...

my new one is making a whining noise too.
my old R you could barely hear the noise... i just thought that is how the R tranny sounds.

now my 98, the noise is alot louder.

when cruising in 5th and let off the gas it is at its loudest, and then when u press the clutch in u can still hear the whining.

is this normal too?
