Default ef w/ ls ...running hot?

alrighty...first....is it normal to refill my coolant reservoir every week? cuz im definitly doin that...also...i have these aftermarket gauges....and i lost a fitting to the water temp one...(lol) so basically it reads engine compartment temperature...and if i gets over 160 the idle likes to jump to about 1200 instead of about 8-900 rpm....it also doesnt help when i have an s1 tranny so i tach like 4gz all the time on the highway....any info/suggestions of how to fix would be appreciated

should you be refilling your coolant every week? obviously not. are you burning it? leaking it? do you shut your car off and hear a bubbling noise from your overflow bottle?

if you burn that much in a week, you'd clearly see clouds of white smoke behind you. if you leak it that fast, you'd surely find puddles under your car. if your head gasket is blown, your engine can essentially blow it out through your overflow bottle (my d15 did that when the hg blew). surely you must be noticing *something* other than just missing fluid.

and by the way, the S1 is actually one of the longer-geared b trannys, and 4k isn't all that high, but I don't know what that has to do with anything anyway.

USDM S1 IS AN LS TRANNY............ 4k in the freeway you should be doing about 80 now a j1 tranny is diffrent story i drove a buddys j1 yesterday for the first time and it was like 3k in fift doing about 50-55...........60-65 is about 4k
