Coolong system problem...please help!!
I have a 1996 Civic hatch 1.6L sohc, and I am having a problem with my cooling system. When I am parked with the engine idleing, the temperature gauge sneeks up to the top and the engine coolant will over heat. As I am driving there is not problem as I am getting a steady flow of air at the front of the radiator. The fan works, but it seems as if it only comes on every now and then. There is new coolant in the rad, fuses are good, no wires on sensors loose, rad doesn't have any leaks.
Has anyone ever seen this problem before? Know what it could be? I am thinking that it may be the thermo-sensor that is located next to the thermostat. But if i buy the part (which is $50 bucks) and that isn't my problem, then i cant return it because it is an electrical item. Could it also be the relay in the fuse box??
