Prelude Type S cams...which valve springs
I'm planning on running prelude type s cams in my 01 lude. My question is: What valvesprings/retainers should I use? At first I thought about skunk2 or crower. Then I read that you should use the valvesprings meant for the cams or the harmonics could wreck the valvetrain. I know inlinefour.com sells Prelude Type S valvesprings, i'm thinking that would be the ideal. Could I just use my stock retainers, i'm not planning on revving it past 8k. My racing shifts are all at 7500-7600.
I know a lot of you guys out there think that the type s cams arn't worth it. I'm going this route for 2 reasons. 1. I don't want to deal w/cam breakage i've seen to much **** w/crower and skunk two. 2. I want to keep it as oem as possible.

P.S. i'm planning on the type s pistons as well.

There are type s valve springs on sale on ebay right now.
"Up for sale is a set of Prelude Type S intake valve springs. These springs are lightly used and come from a 2001 Honda Prelude Type S from Japan. They still have the yellow paint on them from the factory. You can tell these are Type S because of the square shaped material used to make the outer valve spring. This set contains both inner and outer springs, but there is one inner spring missing. I don't know where it is. You can use your OEM Prelude inner springs with these outer springs. I checked the spring pressure on a machine and its the same for both the Type S and OEM inner springs. Please check out my other items as I have LOTS of other H series and F series Honda parts for sale. I have the Type S Exhaust springs on another auction."
Does anyone know if this is true...that the type s inner spring and the usdm inner spring have the same pressure?

I used stock outers and stiffer DPR inners with DPR retainers on my S cams. If I am not mistaken with the OEM USDM H22 retainer there is a chance that the retainer will crush the valve seal at peak lift when using Type-S cams.
I recommend stiffer inners and retainers at the very least. It's cheap insurance against a money shift.

The springs/retainers Are in my old H22. I upgraded to my current nonVTEC setup. You won't find many setups like mine:

Things have been added since that have not been dyno'd and still more to come...

Can anyone confirm this? Would it be okay if I used crower retainers w/skunk2 springs?

Look into the Supertech Valvetrain for All Motor applications for the H22. The spring rate will be good for the Type S cams and more. Its not too stiff, but just right and gives an extra strength over stock. THey have titanium retainers as well.
If you have more questions on it and price, PM me and I can get you the spring rates, etc.

The thing is, I've already got a spare H22 head w/full skunk2 valvetrain. I heard titainum retainers wear out at about 35,000. So I was wondering, If I could use the crower steel retainers w/skunk2 springs? Would the S2 springs be okay for the S cam, or would they be too stiff?
I heard that S2 Valve springs will mess up your rockers if you run them w/a stock camshaft. I think there pressure is too high, or something? Would this occur w/the S cam?
