Default Blacked/Smoked out Tail lights

So, essentually I want to do a self project and I've been looking at cars with Blacked Out Tail lights and was wondering if possible if it could be done. If so how hard would it be to do and how would I go about doing it on an 05 Accord..If anyone who knows any info or has done it to their own accords I would appreciate it a bunch

When i did mine i used this stuff called Nite Shades its liek a transperent black paint. it work really good it you uses lights coats. Just put more coats on till u achive the desired darkness. I got a car of it at Summitracing.com i thnk it was aobut 12 bucks.

The process is really to simple

Clean the light well, spray niteshades on it to the desired darkness, then taking polishing compound and work it out until the painted lamp is smooth as can be Def an OEM look if done correctly!!!

im sorry but that is the most incorrect way to do this.

you would have to wetsand the whole taillight with 800 grit sandpaper. spray the tint in the area you want to look "smoked" and then shoot clearcoat on the whole taillight.

Look at the post right above yours. http://www.lamin-x.com/ . They do exactly that, they have colored/tinted films for your lights.

Untrue:

Examples

Tiburon Tail Lamp....used to be light red with orange blinker...now a nice darker red

Used some sort of Krylon stained glass paint

Another on Kenny's GTI:

And my Turbo car:

The last thign you want to do, is to wetsand the lamp...because if you do decide you don't like it, you can always clean the paint off using various paint cleaners...

Each way works...the Tib and GTI have been done now for over a year with no fade...at shows people always come up and ask how we got them so smooth....

Guys, use the lamin-x stuff. It's simple, it protects, it doesn't fade and if you get tired of it, simply remove it. Oh, and it doesn't leave residue.

Sorry but not red. Smoked, Charcoal, Yellow, Blue and clear where the clear comes in different thickness.

lmao. if you look at your homies tailights. they all look flat and dull. cause they didn't clear it. if i didn't know what i was talking about then i wouldn't say ****, however i work at a body shop and know what im talking about. the reason behind sanding is for the paint to stick and last through the years, but im sure you already know that the last thing you want to do is wetsand the lamp? WHY? if you're so smart. if he didn't want the smoked look, he could always wetsand sand it off and buff it with rubbing compound and the light would look as if it just came out of the factory, but im sure you knew that too. either way, listen to this guy, he obviously knows how to go about painting, HAHAHAHAHA.
